That's a really nice Job you have done there, I'm impressed! (and that doesn't happen very often).
The steering wheel looks really good as well. Good design good solution good execution. And it still looks like it belongs in the Elan.
Well done!

Awesome job Blair
How did you get the vent ducts from rectangular to round?
I also hate the way the OE Audio / vents stick out - looks very much like the stylist had an
ooops, 'not enough room for a 1 Din Audio' moment.

That was a little tricky but worked out ok in the end. I removed the plenum or manifold (or whatever we should call it) above the fan/heater box behind the dash. First, I cut off the recatngular endings that mate with the OEM vents. Then I cut up the manifold to move one side of the vent piping over a bit and glued it all up. Then I heat gunned them to make them semi round and then pushed the dash in to meet up with them. Its not a perfect fit but some duct tape fixed that.
The fascia's off again as we fiddle with some nagging little issues so I may try to add in some flexible hosing to make a better seal.

Geoff, I think that should work with no problems. I think we've got at least that much room in there so let's go with that and thanks again for all your help!

Blair,
No problem. I'm laying out the last board now.
One thing you might consider is insulating the switcher and display boards. I didn't want to box them up to give you maximum flexibility, but you might think it wise to protect them somehow, even if it's just a plastic bag taped around it.

In protection do you mean from liquids or heat? Either way I'm sure I can MacGyver something up when it arrives.

Geoff, you're too smart for your own good! Many thanks as always - it looks awesome. I've now received the switcher board from Alan. Do you think I'd be able to use it with only the switcher I have from you or does it need the LED's as well? (not sure how you designed it) Just curious if i can install it this weekend or if I need to wait until I receive the other stuff from you.

Sorry Blair but you'll have to be patient, but I'll finish of the hazard plug-in and sent it with something you can use to switch the Everest board temporarily. Your last board which brings together the switch, display and ECU is still a few weeks off I'm afraid.

No worries Geoff. Don't waste your time on making a temporary fix for me though. I can wait. I'm working on a bunch of other little things anyway. Whenever its all ready will be fine by me. Thanks!
Having said that, I had (probably mistakenly) assumed that I might be able to use the new chip along with the Moates board I just received with the remote, 5 position switcher dial you sent some time ago (already mounted into the new dash). It has the ribbon cable to go to the Moates board - just doesn't have an LCD display. The area where I mounted the switcher dial does have a little dial face though so I'd know which program I'd selected. Again, wasn't sure if it required the LED or not though

It just happens that the Moates board and my switch use the same connector.
Thinking about it, if Alan still uses the board he used to, it's got a 16 way switch on it which you can use for now if you want to - just remember to switch it back to the default position when you're finished.

look great, Blair!
I see the wall bumpers are too high for a Lotus, and it seems your boot is either open a tad (more likely) or way out of adjustment

Not to worry about the trunk lid. I hadn't closed it fully as I was still working in there. And, believe it or not, the door guards are the right height for the Elan. Probably just the camera angle. Although I did have to add a second row to protect the "other" car that goes there occasionally. Gotta set your priorities

Sorry, the project is finished although at the end of the year I'll be removing it for some retouching and some minor work. Just don't want to take the car off the road for that now. Havne't re-installed the knee bolster as I'll need to make some new mounts for it and its just going to come off again in a few months anyway. I'll take a few pics and post them later.
