How the Elan was aligned..... 3 times!
(why always me...)After lots of troubles, and very very serious, one of the repairs needed was to replace the complete steering rack.
Obviously after this the car needed realignment, so I took it to a local specialist.
After 3 hours of work, including my assistance, the car was ready to go, although castor was not done because there was no time left ...
I left a bit skeptical, and at the first high speed corner i got scared of my own car
On a bump mid corner the car went all over and i gave up in finding the limits again.
I made another appointment to have the alignment checked again, free of charge obviously.
This time I got a little more involved and we started at the rear (duh) This went a little strange as the measurements were all over. We did attempt to set the castor this time as I felt that this was way off. We moved about 5 shims and did another measurement... No difference! The I told the guy that I lost all confidence and he agreed. So the manager came, and excused himself for the obviously awry (is this even English?) equipment.
So I took off to another one of their franchises, this time one with 3D Hunter equipment. After the initial measurement the comment was: Well, this looks interesting...
Almost all measurements were off! In just 1 hour all was fixed and I finally had my car back
