Ha ! ;D Got my new project. Yellow, Belgian (original paperwork & docs )1991 SE LHD. 48'000 miles spotless interior & hood & fairly scratchless paint & alloys.But under the bonnet everything in pieces. The engine, Nothing connected. A project that has been given up by the previous owner who bought the car 2 years ago like that. original engine comes with it. The car originally came with Aircon, (aircon pump& belt in pieces) it has a slightly different dash (clock on another spot compared to my UK RHD '91 pacific blue one. No federal spec wheels but the original lotus 15' OZ alloys. Car has had damage right front, but has been repaired professionally all with original lotus parts. Though the cat is missing (exhaust is another sperate piece supplied) the dash shows a label that the car is equipped with a catalyst and complies with 1991 exhaus regulations bla,bla(I guess all american elans must have this). On the rear there is no plate to cover up the registration plate but has a wide open (like s2 place for reg.... (not in 1991 ???) First thing I need to do now (all the wiring, piping, gear cables et,etc are not connected) is to find out if the second engine fits the existing wiring of that car and if the second engine is one without a cat system wether I should change the ECU units before doing anything sensible... Hope to send some pics in in the coming weeks. Looking forward to get this elan up and running and boostin my elan learing curve......

A year goes fast! The yellow puzzel has gathered quite some dutch dust.

But.. That will soon change. Pictures on this board on march 28 th.....

Right here the puzzle in Current condition. Dust, dust, but still norfolk mustard. Engine compartment is a jungle, no exhaust, broken o2 sensor, car came with additional engine, gearbox, AC pump and another m3 of spare parts. Short term goal is to bring the engine to life but I think there will be more than just a headgasket set replacement. (the problem according to the previous owner) Car has been in accident (righ front) all replaced with original spares with labels still on them. But somehow they gave up! Car's paperwork has no remarks so can go through MOT rightaway, provided the engine is running (ha).

Don't know anything about the engine or crash damage, but I think the interior looks a lot worse than it actually is.

All I can see is dust and what looks like mold on the seats and centre console.

Probaby low on your list of priorities, but it might be worth spending an hour cleaning up the worst of the interior, won't help getting the car back on the road, but I bet you'll feel like you achieved something, might be a boost to get started on the more difficult jobs.

Ailwyn, I have to disagree with your first comment. Just look at how bright the yellow stripes are on the seats - they look like minters! With some leather cleaner and hide food on the charcoal coloured bits, they'll come up beautifully. I've seen far worse.

Also I spy a genuine Lotus mat.

But I agree with your closing statement - sorting the interior out could give an enormous sense of satisfaction and spur Wilcox on to really getting stuck in with it.

I'm very envious - looks like a great project that could be extremely rewarding.
