Just how different is the KIA Elan from a LOTUS Elan SE

Hi,

A part from engine, rear light clusters, instrument panel/gauges, how different are the 2 cars?

Is it possible that I put in a Lotus Elan Turbo engine in a KIA Elan?
You see, the KIA ELAN's engine need major repair, and I happen to be able to find a spare Lotus Elan Turbo engine. Worth doing!?

Thanks.

Regards,

Well, how mechanical are you? This would be a good project if you are willing to go for it. You would then become the expert on the differences and I am sure you would inspire a ton of others. I say DO IT! :D

likely it could be done but you'd have to get the ENTIRE front drivetrain (transmission/axles/suspension/brakes/etc) to make it work well and for sure--that's assuming the Kia retains the mounting points for the Lotus front suspension???

As always, I did not read this carefully enough. I thought you were getting the whole spare car so you could transfer parts but if it is only the engine, it may be very difficult without having a car for reference.

On a side note, who wants my spare motor :D I will be pulling the old this weekend and putting in the new next weekend. I have taken a ton of pics as I got the old motor ready to remove and it was a bitch!
