New Door Handle Escutcheons: North America

Postby Brit-Car-Nut » Fri 13.07.2012, 17:41

The consignment for the USA has arrived, so it is time to start the Group Buy for the Door Handle Escutcheon sets.

If you want to see a picture of what you will be buying, here is a link: http://www.lotuselanm100usa.info/images/escutcheons.jpg

Buyers from Canada are welcome

I will be handling payments and shipping for those in the USA and Canada.

This is just the start of distribution and the list IS NOT FINAL.

Anyone that wants to join in is more than welcome. Just add yourself to the list or reply with your request and you will be added.

To get payment details, send me an email at (john_c ATATATATAT carolina.rr DOTDOTDOTDOTDOT com) Prefix the Subject with "LEC escutcheons" + your LEC name for PayPal details - PLEASE don't forget to send your name, address and phone number too.

For those in the US:

The final price per set is $40.00 and shipping for one or two sets will be $6.50. They will be shipped by USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. So, that is $46.50 for one or $86.50 two sets shipped from North Carolina to you. More than two sets will have to be calculated as necessary.

Payment by PayPal is greatly appreciated BUT it would be best to send it as a Personal Payment, as a payment owed. You will be asked to pay a small fee. That will avoid all PayPal Fees to us.

If you want to pay by PayPal but want an invoice from me, then the price for one set goes up to $48.70 which after PayPal takes their pound of flesh leaves $46.50. Two sets will be $89.70 with PayPal fees. I will be glad to send a PayPal payment request for the correct amount for your order.

Bank transfers are expensive and my bank charges $25.00 for me to receive one, so don't do that, please. You can mail me a check but it will hold up shipment until it clears my bank.

I can accept Western Union, but again, that costs extra, so it is best to contact me if PayPal is a problem for you.

For those in Canada:

The final price per set is $40.00 US DOLLARS. People in Canada don't get off quite so easy since Canada is considered to be International by the USPS.

Priority Mail is $6.50 to the US but ends up at $22.10 for Canadians. Again: US DOLLARS.

First Class Mail to Canada is around the same $6.50. The big difference is Priority Mail is quick while First Class is fairly slow. I don't know if a common receiver will be much quicker or much cheaper, you can debate that among yourselves.

You will have to contact me and let me know how you want your escutcheons shipped to you. I will then let you know the correct cost you will need to send me.

So, here is the list as I have it now:

Those that haven't added their car to the North American Registry can also click on the globe which is the link to the Registry Web Site.

Thank you all for your interest and a BIG THANK YOU to Wayne for keeping after this and getting the job done efficiently and affordably.

For what its worth (being a Canuck and all) I wouldn't waste the money on Priority Mail as First Class seems to reach us pretty fast from the US in most cases and may be 3 - 5 days slower than Priority Mail.

Thanks for the info. I was told First Class can take a few weeks, but that would make it easy to keep the prices the same.

Cheers.

My escutcheons aren't broken but they are vastly discolored compared to the rest of the door card. Almost turning a brownish color. I assume these would spiffy up the interior a bit compared to the originals?

Ironically, the original Lotus version has a brown tint from new. We struggled with the manufacturer to get a decent dark grey like the KIA version but they ended up with a darker brown/dark grey tint that is better than the Lotus version but not as nice as the KIA version. I managed to get a brand new sample of each of those a while ago and they have never been exposed to daylight. We used those as our comparison pieces.

If your escutcheons have been exposed to sunlight, then they most likely have shifted to a light brown like a weak chocolate milk or maybe a light grey, so these will be a huge improvement. Look at the picture in the link to get a basic idea of the colour. http://www.lotuselanm100usa.info/images/escutcheons.jpg It is a fairly decent resolution so you can enlarge a bit more.

I don't want to say these are much better than a new original Lotus part, but they certainly are not any worse.

I didn't think it was necessary to spell out the fact that payment has to be in US DOLLARS, but I was wrong.

The price is $46.50 US DOLLARS for 1 set of escutcheons when paying by PayPal Personal Payment. $48.40 if paying without Personal Payment.

The price is $86.50 US Dollars for 2 sets of escutcheons when paying by PayPal Personal Payment. $89.70 if paying without Personal Payment.

Thank you to everyone that joined in and helped make this a viable project.

It appears that everyone that wanted in, has joined and completed their deals.

Since I will be away for a while, I am closing the North American portion of the GREAT ESCUTCHEON PROJECT.
I will be able to monitor email and PMs so anyone with a problem or question is welcome to reach out. I will do what I can to assist.
Many THANKS go to Dave P., Caryn and Geoff in the UK for handling the UK and Europe distribution. In total, we processed 91 pairs of escutcheons.

Another successful LEC Group Buy.

There are a few pairs of escutcheons left both in the US and the UK and Wayne will have more sets once he reaches the UK. If anyone wants to get a pair (or more), just send me an email or PM and I will work out the best way to get them paid for and on their way.

Thank you again to everyone that joined this Group Buy.
