Well I finally got my alternator fitted, and it's great to see the voltmeter at a steady 14+V, even with everything electrical I can think of switched on. Makes a change from 12.5V falling rapidly to 10V, and a year of flat batteries. So thanks Ailwyn for organising this.

On the first drive in the dark after fitting, I thought the main beams were permanently on, before I realised that I'd never seen the headlight beams shining that brightly before!

P.S., I retained my old alternator. Is it worth getting it rewound/repaired, or should I throw it away?

Mark, definitely worth giving it to someone that refurbs them & seeing what they would charge to do it ?

I wouldn't know where to go to. Can anyone recommend someone I can ring or somewhere I can take the alternator in or around Berkshire?

Good news, the guy is going to swap the pulleys on the three alternators next week and they should be ready for collection next Saturday

How comes it looks like I still ended up with a V-shaped pulley :smt102

I take it you can just swap your original pulley when you fit this new one?

Just put mine on e-bay as no longer required now car has gone
