Bugger-obviously not :(

I have the hoops fitted to my Elan, so next time we are both at the H&C you can take a look up close.

As there is no commitment at this stage I’ll add my name to ‘the list’. I would be interested in hoops, but probably won’t be in a position to be able to afford them. But if enough people sign up, who knows?

I'll be the first from the US - hoping there are others to share freight costs (maybe we can fill a container  ):

Currently, unless you are a seasoned USS importer, the GOVT will skin anyone organizing a container on their own. I have done 7 containers from the UK over the years and have always put up the proper bond but the last one came with over $5K in "extra" government charges and fees - mostly inspection and paperwork surcharges. It appears they charge by the hour and many boxes with small individually bagged car parts takes the temps they hire to confirm the manifest matches the actual counts.

Crating is also a nightmare as only certain types of wood are now allowed and has to be certified to being without any bugs or varmints.

Hi Don ,
maybe not a crate but a well packed up item with clear packaging may be the answer. As things progress i will endeavour to find a solution to getting the hoops to you.

Thank you all for your interest so far. The list has a promising amount of potential "would likes" on it.
That helps gauge if the project has the capacity to actually move forward.

Messages are flying around the www so not much to report but i can report things are happening.

Thank you once again.

I've been wanting to get some roll over hoops made for my car ever since I saw images of the aftermath of an upside down Elan, but wasn't sure how to go about it living in Aus. I would have had to get something built from scratch from a local cage fabricator which would have been very expensive for a 1 off like this. I'm happy to add my name to this list subject to the final costs being determined.

I may be able to help with transportation.

I've no idea how big the jigs are but I've recently purchased a Ford Mondeo estate. Not sure whether they would all fit in this ?

Anyhow, I am driving to Scotland in a week or two, spending some days there, touring around, and then need to be back darn sarff....

I'm south east rather than Clemos south west but maybe I could get them part way and drop them at another's members place ?

Just a thought.........

Dear Simon ,
Thank you for the kind offer. At present i think we have a solution coming via John W to get it over to the mainland.
John is going to do a favour for Andy who needs a trailer moving over here and pack it up and drag it over. Then i think it is a road trip to the up there that North.
But thank you very much for thinking of us.

Cheers

Clemo & all.
