Borders telepathy in action :D

I had that in mind. In fact, and without breaking any confidences, I've had a couple of other approaches saying "love to, but cash flow . . . " So I'm intending to go see Merlin, probably on Wednesday, and ask for a price for 7 and a price for 10. Ab2cv is also loaning me one of his reducer pieces (for those of us who have S2s), and I'm hoping that will arrive by Wednesday as well, so I can take it with me and ask Merlin for a price.
Once we have Merlin's prices and can compare them with list, let's then see if it's worth approaching Amber or Demon Tweeks or someone else. My only observation is that we save postage with the Merlin option, because I can easily collect. With the others, we'd have to pay postage and VAT on top, which would negate some or all of their discount.

I will also find out from Merlin how much money they want when. They don't usually bill until they ship, so my aim is to pay a smallish deposit up front and the balance on delivery, but they may want payment in full up-front for a special order.

Happy to take additions to the list for the time being; I can always adjust quantities before placing the final order.

Team, just to say I probably won’t be getting to Merlin this week. I have NOT done a runner, disappeared, sold the Elan or anything else. I had a call at 7:00 this morning to say that my mum died in her sleep overnight. One of my brothers is in Western Canada, and the other in Lincolnshire, so neither is really in a position to help with arrangements in Wiltshire, which means my mind will be off Lotus for a few days.

I’ll get to Merlin when I can, and will report back. Last I saw they were quoting delivery early April, so we still have a bit of time to order and still have the hoses for handover at CC.

Please bear with me while I sort out Life; thanks

Jonathan,

I'm sure that i speak on behalf of everyone at LEC - we all understand that there are times when you have to re-prioritise at little notice, clearly there are far more important things for you to be concentrating on right now. Thoughts and condolences from West Wales.

Very sorry to hear this Jonathan.

I was in a very similar position to you a couple of years ago so fully understand where your thoughts and priorities lie right now. Samco can wait for another day. They aren't important at this point in time

Well I could do with two sets...

Just replaced a head gasket on Collapso because of bursting hoses ... a bottom hose burst on the M4 first ... two weeks later the heater Y hose split at the Y and AA spliced in a plastic T connector and I thought I'd got away with it .. but 2 weeks after that coming round the M25 I looked in the rear view mirror and thought " Blimey - It's foggy behind me" .. exhaust had become a steam generator..

what discount are we expecting?

Reason I ask is Merlin is £284 +VAT so about £341 for 13 hose kit https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/samco-hose-kit-elan-m-100-1-6ltr-isuzu-european-version-coolant-13-tcs-330-c

These guys are £295 inc VATfor 13 hoses... but also offer 14 hose kits .. :smt017 https://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=1825152435;car=lotuselan

My thinking was the transmission should last longer without a supercharger and I like the clean lines of the original design ... I think the holes in the front have got ugly in later versions.

Congratulations, it looks very nice!! And a nice colour, too!
(actually I am pondering over buying a launch edition too; I suspect it could be a scam but we will see how the seller reacts to my questions. Very early stage of pondering so far ^^)
Actually there is (was?) a kit to put the Evora S supercharger in it if you really wanted too. Not exactly cheap, though ( £7616.08 including VAT for the kit parts only on SJS apparently). But yes, 280bph is probably enough anyway :)

That’s really nice Phil.

Back on topic, I’m still contemplating the hoses, so could well be more than 10 required.

Hi all, I’m back from my unplanned distractions :D

Lotusflasherman: not wedded to Merlin, just that I have an existing relationship with them and can collect when the hoses arrive. Happy to consider Amber, Demon Tweeks, Europerformance, or anywhere else we can get a decent discount.

Kathryn: I’m now planning to go to Merlin on Monday morning, and I’ll base the quote on 10-15 sets, mixed colours. Once I have a price, I’ll post again and we can decide whether to go with it or look elsewhere. I also have a reducer piece which I’ve borrowed from ab2cv of this parish, so we S2 pilots can make sure we have all the necessary bits.

Hope this helps, and please stand by for more news.

Not too late, Justin. I went to Merlin today and got some indication of prices, but I want to check with Europerformance as well and then I’ll report back.
