This is a list for a pair of gear shift cables in stainless steel fitted with rod ends to allow for any misalignment, it also means that it does not stop the gear lever from self centering.
I have now finalised the price, IF we can get to 25 then they will be £210.00, or if not then they are £230.00 both plus £8.00 delivery.
If you have a S2 Elan then you will not need the gearbox bracket so deduct £16.00.
For those in the USA they may want to consider sourcing the cables locally as they are a standard cable all be it a specific length.

I am also willing to do it on the East Coast. I have several cable builders available but they didn't have the propper ends.

A result , a couple of phone calls later and I've now managed to source the cables at a better price all be it the discount for volume gets thrown out of the window but it means we do not have to reach 25, they will be £210.00 a set how ever many cables I order.
They have enough parts in stock to make up 5 pairs of cables and can order in some more parts from the USA.
So first come first served and I'll do a run of 5 sets with the others to follow allowing them three weeks or so to get the parts in from the USA for the cables.
For those in the USA the cables are Felsted all stainless steel part numbers M4222 /1210 and 1235 the last numbers are the overall length it mm and the ends are M6 not the standard 1/4". To clarify the cross gate is 1235mm and the main cable is 1210mm overall length with 2" of travel.
For just the parts I make up less cables and rod ends (available from Mid West Controls USA DSTF-6 2 off and DSTF-8 2 off) cost will be £65.00 plus delivery

Geoff raised the question with regards to cable lengths, they may appear short but you have to add in the rod ends and adapters which takes them to the original lengths give or take a little bit as there is 20mm of adjustment on the cable lengths c/o the rod ends and adapters. That adjustment is in addition to the adjustment on the cable bracket which is another 25mm

Acording to Felsted, there is a prefix missing It is 3 digits that identifies the type of ends on the cable.

First digit:

Cable Types

Please pass that info on so I can see who has the better price for the cables.

Cable-Tec is also a big supplier and more common in my area. They claim to be able to provide the same quality cable for less cost.
I will also give them a try once i have the specific details for the cables you are using.

Another question came up as to the type of bulkhead: The Stainless 5/8" bulkhead is very expensive compared to the normal steel.

My supplier says the never use stainless bulkheads, just stainless cables, sleeves and ends.

Can you confirm that the bulkheads are 5/8" and they are standard steel? Or are they aluminum??

All I can say is that the ones I use are stainless steel through out including stainless steel bulkhead fitting, I did not see any good reason to go for plated steel fittings as there was not enough differance in cost to justify a part that will rust in time.
These cables are 4 series with both ends the same but the thread on the end M6 not 1/4-28 UNF

Your supplier can not be in the marine industry as they would always specify stainless steel through out as steel and salt water do not get on very well together.

If you want to do the job with steel fittings thats up to you as long as the threads remain the same for the bulkhead fitting , the ends are M6, with the dimension B = 6.19" (157.2mm) and overall length remaining the same other wise I can not say if they will fit or not.

Not looking to modify, looking to duplicate what you have worked out.

Cable prices with all stainless at 50% discount are still much higher than what you are quoting so I am doing something wrong.

I will keep looking. Felsted is actually a dead company. I spoke to the original group and they said it was dissolved 3 years ago.

Maybe that is why I am having trouble getting a decent quote.

I'm just getting some quotes on these- both ends of the cable are M6 right? Those DSTF-8 rod ends are M8.

Correct both ends M6 then an adapter to get to the M8 rod ends

For peoples information the cable part number 4222 breaks down like this 4 is the series of cable, next 2 is the length of travel, next 2 is for a bulkhead fitting and the last 2 is a bulkhead fitting so reads 4series, 2" travel with bulkhead fittings either end.

That is who I am dealing with.

I have a source that will make cables for me. They will provide better pricing if I buy 5 to 10 at a time.

I am working on the heim joints. I think I can do better than Midwest but have to wait for my rep to get best prices.

Can you figure out how much it will cost for your adapter/bushing kit to be shipped to the US?
