Somehow we managed to make it happened with some cuts on her hand

No skimming, no short cut. Just labor went into building full racing specs hoses. :-)

Good effort. Thanks for the update :-)

Actually the oil lines are already pre -indexed. I took the liberty of figuring the angles. The coolant lines use a swivel seal hose end to ease install.... There I go thinking again  Looking out for the DIYer.

Just recieved 3 manifolds from Ekapol. will be working on them next week when I get back to SF.

Marie

Those oil lines you have made, are they standard fittings to fix to a original oil cooler or somewhere else?

Just found out my oil pipes from the cooler are weeping.

If they are standard, any chance of a set and how much? I have had an offer to have some made but will need mine of the road for at least 4 days while the pipes are copied and would cost about £70 each

The oil lines in the kit are specifically for the turbo to block. The lines you need for the oil cooler are a different size and have hydraulic hose ends on the car side, banjo fittings on the cooler side. Aeroquip makes the banjo side and the hose side you need is 8AN. The car side..... well your going to have to cut off the sleeve and can re use the Hydraulic fitting but will have to take the hose to an AC shop to hsve them crimp on a new sleeve to the Aeroquip line.

Hiya Lads,

So I have a random question for you. After talking with my Garrett rep they where shocked that I was able to polish out the GT2560R. Apparently they won't do it. I said it took me between 8-10 hours each to do between the grinding, sanding down and finally polishing. Cost for the buffing compounds and grinding blades should be around $70 to do the whole run.

My question is what does everyone think would be a fair price for the job or per hour? Suggestions?

a fair price....mmm... thats difficult.......
its depends....are we talking brew monkey, trainee, general bod, craftsman/woman, master craftsman/woman...........

I think its more a case of what you value yourself at......

uk minimum wage is about £5.80/hr.....call that about $11.60/hr......
so if you wanted that then its about $100 per unit.......for just the labour..(minimum)

just my thoughts

Whatever, i'm easy :) , can't vouch for the northern monkey ( he can be like a ducks arse ), but he appears to be in " spend mode " at the minute, so you go for ir Marie, as far as i'm concerned, i asked you to polish if possible, so i'm prepared to pay  .

From an innocent bystander...

when they say they’re shocked and won’t polish the turbo... will doing so affect the warranty? :?

I'm afraid now we are talking about Marie's little hands will get numb for 10 hours for each turbo. ;-)

An average mechanic in the SF bay area charges $100 an hour. Even at $50 per hour, it will turn to look like quite an amount of money, if not looking into the boring process behind it. This turbo model has rough texture surface casing, also that some of the lettering need to be ground off. It will look nice once it's done though.

We are talking customed job here. That might be why she asked what should it be for an hour rate.
