Thanks for letting me know Andy and I hope the wheel balances OK...

...from what I hear, a lot of the boxes were knackered, (15 years in storage I suppose,.. but still..!) All the alloys have been fine though. Good luck, enjoy, and watch out for those potholes!

If I'd known that there would be a 'LEC courier' delivery option i could have saved a few quid on postage

As for the 'exact fit' question, i based my selection on the info on P4 of Randy's 'Mellow Yellow' thread here, and the fact that i fitted Vauxhall locking ones on Angies car without any problems (2 years ago).

Last time I spoke to Lotus Aftersales, I was told that all the S2 alloys had been sold...

...But then I heard a rumour that someone managed to get some recently....???

I think the best course of action would be to get your local Lotus dealer to check. (They are more likely to get to the truth than me!)

may be a strange place to post this but as every ones bought s2's here i thought i might ask
i fitted mine the day befor donny , all nice and shinny, didnt give the car much stick just a nice drive,
the other day i pushed the car for the first time and it handled SH/T, new toyo's scrubbed in,
the car feel's loose, push it into a roundabout and it feels like a delayed reaction on the rear end,
its hard to describe, if you move the steering wheel side to side doing about 40'ish it feels like you could get the rear to step out
it felt that bad i put se wheels back on to check, and it transformed the car, sharp again ,
same roundabout the car feels stable,the front and rear pushed out the same,
i'm at a loss as to why the s2's make the car feel so bad,
anyone had any similer happen to them

IMHO the S2 wheels shouldn`t perform any different to the SE wheel

I agree with Monty, could be a tyre or tyre pressure issue.

Had the Toyo Proxes (Re-inforced type) and didn't like them (mostly due to wet weather grip -- others dis-agree). They've been replaced with Conti Sport Contact 2 which I like a lot particularly in the wet ,-- these are S2 wheels on an SE.
Having said I like the Contis, the S2 has Michelins Pilots and I like them even more -- very sharp on turn-in and predictable at the limit of grip.

What tyres are on the 15" wheels which give good performance?

I noticed different characteristics when I went from SE to S2....I put it down to the tyres.

I have TOYOs on the S2s, I reckon there is more straight line grip...but like you, a bit of squirm...especially when braking...very different from the michys on the SE alloys...

I shall try different pressures to see if it makes a change...trouble is...I am probably not a good enough driver to work out when it is any better!!

i messed with tyre pressures but it made little difference,
every time iv''e been out in the car i get the side and rear of the car coated in a black mist of rubber of the tyres, i guess the toyo's are a soft compound
on my se wheels i have michelin pilots, iv'e pushed them and coundnt get them to let go,
its wrecked the feeling of the car, its sod law iv'e ordered bob brake upgrade for the s2 so theres no going back,
its a lot of money just to make the car look good; i don't trust the tyres at all, but cannot afford to change them,

Which Toyo`s did you go for?

IIRC i remember Steff having a similar trouble with the T1r`s or what ever they were and took a long time for them to come good

I get loads of grip from my Toyo T1Rs but I have 16" fed alloys. Dave Eds took mine out soon after these tyres were fitted & came back with a big grin on his face.
Josler has Toyos on his S2 alloys & he was so impressed that he recommended them to me in the first place.

Are the wheel bolts torqued correctly? I remember being a bit shy once and although I could not find any movement when the wheel was jacked up, It messed the handling big time.
