This may be too late, or unwanted info, but I just ordered MSD coils before I saw this thread. I ordered from streetsideauto.com (I found them using pricegrabber.com search for the coils). The coils are the same price as you're getting from the ebay guy, but shipping is free in the U.S. Just thought I'd pass it on, since it might save you a little not having to pay to ship them to MattRI. IIRC from previous posts, you're each paying about $4.50 for the shipping to Matt. If 10 people buy through the seller you're using, the combined shipping cost will be enough to pay for 11 sets of coils through streetsideauto.com.

Word of advice: Things on ebay aren't always cheaper than other sources. When I'm considering an item on ebay, I always check pricegrabber.com, and sometimes nextag.com as well, to make sure I can't get the same thing for a better price elsewhere. Most of the time, I can. I often see people paying more for a used item on ebay than they would pay for a new one if they just looked. For example, the Alpine iDA-x001 head unit I got for my Elan was an item I watched many people bid significantly more for than I paid. Some were even paying $25 more than they would have paid if they went to Best Buy.

Thanks for your comments, Tweetdriver - its easy to forget that eBay is an auction and some get carried away with the bidding and that the total cost includes postage / shipping.

I have checked streetsideauto and they are currently out of stock - the MSD coil is however available from Amazon with free shipping and MSD are offering a value based rebate which should qualify; $350 spend = $35 post-in rebate (several weeks to refund)

I'm VOR until the coils arrive so the sooner the better - not that I'm losing out on any fine weather!

Yes, the physical size limits them to 10 per box (ie. 5 pairs).

Actually it ended up being weight rather than size that limited AtlanticSpeed from being able to send any more than 10 coil packs (i.e. enough for 5 people) in a USPS Flat Rate Box.

The shipping rate and P&P were very reasonable - the big problem was the dreaded duty.

I would recommend seeing what Matt RI comes back with before trying to go down another route. Even if they charge $44.15 per box to get them to him, and then he has to spend the same again to forward them onto Rip, you'll still avoid over £60 worth of charges.

I wouldn't get over excited about what can/can't be avoided by sending the package in the US for onward shipping...

The only way to safely avoid duty is to have the (2)coils individually delivered.

I was going to say- by the time I get down to the post office to check on the prices for delivery, there will be two boxes to send. It was meant to be said as a joke- and there are already a list of 10...

My apologies, Gents- I have been traveling for work- heading out again tomorrow morning pre-dawn. I will be back next week and will have the info early next week for sure. Again- I am sorry for the delay, I did get the box dimensions/weight from Atlantic- so all I need is cost to ship overseas and I will post it here.

Okay- I am back in town and ready to go *finally*

Again- I apologize for the delay. USPS quoted me at $38.95 for each box- so split 5 ways that is about 4 quid each for shipping from the US to the UK. Atlantic Speed would charge $11 to ship each box to me- so by my calculations we are talking about 5 pounds per person?

If everyone is still in, then we will still need to organize payment to Atlantic and I would need an address (or two) for the boxes to be shipped to. Distribution on the other side of the pond is something that I will not be able to help with! I can get instructions from Rip (or anyone else) offline as to what value/product should be written on the box to avoid 'the dreaded'. If I should open the boxes to take out the invoice to further conceal- please let me know as well. Once payment is made to Atlantic we should be able to get going. If you want me to give Pete at Atlantic a shout to explain the organization, let me know and I will be happy to do so and post any instructions he has on the site.
