I believe that if you splice a wire into the fan switch wire then run it through a switch to earth that should get the desired effect.

Personally I've fitted the low temp (195/185) fan switch and am very happy with the result, temp goes to 1/4 then doesn't move.

DICO, WTF? If any people of a Welsh disposition are desperate for a pair of fans and would like to get them before batch 2, give me a shout as mine are not destined for immediate use.

Sy, what Ailwyn suggests is OK (he means the cooling fan temperature switch though, not the wire running to the fan - that one is live and the sparks and fuse blowing if you connect that to earth wouldn't be good for your gentile artistic temperament) however, if you leave the switch on, the cooling pump will continue to run and will flatten your battery if you're not careful. The best place to pick it up would be the aircon pressure switch (WikiDiagram for those in the know) and connect earth (B=Black) on one pin to circuit 24A (BO=Black&Orange) on the other pin of the connector, which would only enable the fans with the ignition on. However, methinks the diagram is wrong and the colours are black and red (mystery connector on the bulkhead). Now all we need is some brave soul to short the two pins with the ignition on............

Before fitting these, could somebody (GEOFF) please tell us how to wire them with a manual on/off switch option.
In words, please Mr Smith 'cos wiring diagrams mean the square root of Football Association to some of us with a more artistic bent.

As Geoff says, it's not the fan wiring you'll have to modify, but the thermostatic controller wiring which is easy. You should be able to fit the new fans and then do the manual switch mod as a completely separate job.

I did the mod years ago (after getting stuck in a traffic jam with Stevo en route to Donington 2003, and seldom have to use it (last time was Hethel where there was a bit of a queue to get in). It's nice to know it's there though.

The 2nd batch will all be with the correct plugs and fitting kit, for a total of £66/pair
I'll also turn the motor round 90deg and trim the 3mm off the top and bottom that appears to now be necessary.
Postage if required will be another £9. I usually go to Donington aswell, so that's an option

It would appear there is a small issue with the fans, I hadnt picked up on it I'm afraid until I was just doing my final fit - everything had been put together loosly while I was waiting for my radiator back, and the problem was not apparent, probably due to the angle I could offer the fan in at when the radiator wasnt there...

The top edge of the fan shroud has two unused mounting lugs, that foul the top crossmember when the fan is presented up and need to be trimmed off.

I must stress, this is really easy - stanly knife, file, angle grinder - pick your weapon - just take it easy so as not to take off too much, or damage the fan; but it really is easy.

The pictures below detail the trimming required.

I'm really sorry about not spotting this earlier, and if anyone would rather bail and send their fans back, I'll give you your money back. That said, once trimmed they really are a perfect fit, and work really well!...

Gordon, i fitted mine last night before reading your post and they were very tight but I managed to get them in place ,, I only managed to secure the bottom nuts but it seems a solid fit....I will test them out when the weather improves..
