how hard are the AB cables to fit? is it worth changing everything at once?

You will probably be best doing both jobs seperately - that way, if you have a problem you'll be able to isolate the cause easier.

The AB cables are pretty fiddley to change - not particularly difficult - just tedious - took me 5 hours, around 2 of this was spent trying to feed one cable through - turned out to be a bit of a technique - I found the AB's made the geer change much stiffer and they take some bedding in - (2or3 k miles IMHO).

I'm still not convinced I needed the AB's, but at least I have piece of mind that the cables are unlikley to fail

Dave's shortshift is brilliant - as many have said it does transform the feel of the car - the geer shift is much more precise, as regards fitting - it is fairly straightforward - fiddley more than anything, and the instruction supplied are easy to follow- I also "shortened" the actual gearstick further by replacing the geer knob with one that sits further down the shaft.

I really need 25 to make it viable. However as there has been some interest of late and I hate to disapoint I'm going to take a chance and order the materials this week
Feeling a bit jaded since the Gall bladder op. so it might be a few weeks 'till they are finished - give you a chance to persuade your better halves it is just what they need for Chrimbo

There are various ways the group buys work. Some need deposits, others need to be pre-paid if there is a lot of investment / risk.
The way I prefer to work is to make a batch up, advise folk when they are ready and ship on receipt of full payment, payment method whatever suits the individual. A lot of folk have used paypal but there is now some resistance due to rip off charges

Welcome to LEC and to answer your questions no, LEC doesn't have an E commerce site as we are not a commercial venture in any way or shape. Group buys usually start off by someone wanting/making something they want for their car and opening it to others. Payment is to large degree up to the individual organising the group buy, but as is the case for most transactions you pay up front and the goods are then sent shipping costs and other costs incurred such as Paypal fees and currency exchange charges are the responsibility of the purchaser. Please bear in mind that by far the majority of people do these things out of interest and passion for the car and we all have real lives and jobs and therefore it does not tend to work in the way that on line retailers work, but on a basis of trust and patience which seems to work really, really well .

I must say it's brilliant,why wasn't it like it from the factory?
Apart from having a shorter shift It makes it feel more precise.
i just wanted to keep changing gear.

I've actually got the AB kit but the effect is the same.
