Steering wheel boss adaptor for Momo etc - Sold out!

Am i right in thinking you're just trying to fit an Elise wheel to the Elan?
If so, nothing magical is required there is (or should be) a write up somewhere on here - otherwise i can re-do it!

That'll be the mark I version - there are a few other 'hints & tips' somewhere - but it is still correct (Thanks Tony!)

Basically, the 'puller' required can be made up easily, as a standard 3-leg won't work - i took about 3 hours to work out how to do it without damaging anything, and 5 minutes to make the 'tool' - a further 1 minute had it all off the car and in my hands.

Pinky is right. Take the old steering wheel off and once you have eyes on the original boss, you'll see that (from memory) the top part is held on with 4 screws, or it could be that the wheel itself is held on with 4 screws..... Remove this and the Else steering wheel will bolt straight on. I do have an Elise wheel in superb condition if you need one.......somewhere.

Alan I wish you had mentioned you had an elise wheel - I have just bought one on ebay - looks in very good condition - I would rather have bought from someone on the forum.............

I went for white background with red lettering but there are lots of choices for the colours

Looks the part - but about £17 more than mine!

Basically, if you remove the horn push cover (30 degree anti-clock bayonet fitting), then the 2 set-screws which hold the horn bits to the wheel (the 2 at 3 and 9 o'clock), take out the horn bits, then you will see how the wheel attaches to the colapsible spacer by 6 screws, which attaches to the boss by 4 screws.

If you have a posh puller like Bobs, then cracking job, just loosen the nut, apply the puller and take the whole thing off.

You need to remove the boss from the spacer, and attach it to the Elise wheel - job done.

Without a posh puller, and being a tight-arse, i got a length of 4mm thick steel, approx 25-30 mm wide, and cut just long enough to fit inside the diameter of the collapsible spacer.

drill a half inch hole in the centre of the bar, tack-weld (or even hold with blu-tack!) a suitable nut (about M10 or 12) to one face of the bar, over the hole. Hold bar inside spacer (nut away from you), screw a bolt into it until it meets the top of the steering column, tighten it until the seal cracks and it comes off in your hands! Job done.

It will probably bend the bar a bit, but it isn't going to break before it comes away.

Cheers Dave I will give it a go or let the garage do it when they fit the new stiffer springs all round along with the 6 point harness to the passenger side along with the new seatbelt to the passenger side

I have one I bought from Alan in Error thinking it was a Boss for a Momo wheel not an adapter (I wasn't listening was I). If any one wants it for what I paid for it £50 + postage.
