Ah!

The top picture shows the 4 top spring carriers on top of the damper that is still wrapped up.
Just a slightly different design to the ones I made up but will do the same job which is to locate the spring on the top.

Bob, any idea? Or should i just ring them?

I just wanted to know if I should indeed have them or wether any of our kits didn't require them. Simple question really.

Anyway, I've phoned them and indeed I should have had them. Courier is collecting the parts that I do have so Nitron can confirm they are correct.

Just another f**k up like everything else in my life at the minute. Hey f**king ho!

Monty,

The rears have been up rated....but had to be of a different percentage (to the fronts) than that of the prototype (Rip's car), because I was trying to be clever and choose a spring that was between the road and race option. Eibach do not apparently make the correct stiffness of spring to keep to the original percentage difference, but apparently Nitron’s own range of springs can match the original percentage, if anybody does want to do the same thing and experiment with the spring stiffness.

The photos that abmunro has posted (thanks!) appear identical to mine (save for the extra thickness in all the springs) and show the extra gold coloured ‘collars’ that I was referring to.

Dico....perseverance!

Hitting my head against walls is also a favourite past time....

When upgrading my brakes to AP racing calipers, not only did the ‘custom built mountings’ require grinding away some of the suspension and fitting 15mm wheel spacers all over, but the tyres have been rubbing against the s/s brake hoses on full lock...not much fun finding out at 120mph and having to stop with just your hand brake! And to cap it all, the brake fluid sprayed all down the side and seems to have the same effect as paint stripper....on a plastic body.... :censored:

Moral of the story, best to find any problems out before hand!

Lucky to get away with that, but you would only have been doing 120mph on a track so had a lot of run-off space I imagine

Brake fluid is known to attack paintwork rather aggressively.

I am sure that your new suspension will feel good once fitted. That should bring a smile to your face.
Because mine was fitted in winter, I did not get a chance to appreciate it properly straight away. :(

Re: Nitron/Eibach suspension

Some bad news. :(

I spoke to Read Performance and apparently the bolts are too short at the top of the shocks, which means to make them fit, certain washers need to be omitted, which is not a good idea as rubbers will break down/push over other parts leading to possible catastrophic failure....or something like that.

So don’t go modifying anything yourselves, or try to make them fit, yet.

Read phoned Pete at Nitron, who is aware of the problem and is doing everything possible to address the situation and calling everybody who has received the kits, to notify them (he has already called me). It looks like the kits are going to be recalled to address the issue, as it is not just a matter of extending the bolts without further modifying the internals of the system, so a possible remanufacture may be necessary.

So if you have received yours and not yet fitted them....hold fire.

Which made me think.....RIP, CHECK YOURS.

Collected mine from Nitron yesterday about an hour after landing back in UK. Interested to see which bolts are too short, I assume the top bolts?

Welcome home Nige! Culture shock?!

I think it is the top bolts....I still havn't collected my car from my mechanics yet...they are putting the original parts back on, so when I collect it I will try to find out more.

Did you pick up your kit directly from Nitron? Seems strange they didn't tell you about these issues. :?

I have just spoken to Ben.

He says that Peter has left the company.

He asked me to send back my kit.

I have been thinking about this and wondering at who's cost this will be( ours I guess )

What about Karl he is going to have to pay for the fitting twice ( Not a good show by Nitron)

The kit does look Sh*t Hot though!!!

Which bolts are too short? just asking cause i thought the dampers were using the stock top hats which already have the bolts that go in to the chassis :?

The only other bolts are to the fork on the fronts and the lower eye on the rears which i assume the old bolts could be reused :? well thats how my AVO`s work

It may be the centre spindle that's too short ... if it were just bolts they would send new ones ... there would be no mention of "modifying the internals of the system"

I now have the full story.

Pete has left and it has been left to others to play catch up and sort out a new top section that screws on to the damper rod, this is the part that passes up through the washers and rubbers on the original top mount.
I do not know why this came about but it's a dimension that was incorrect so you could not get the nut on the top of the damper rod or at least not enough of it.
I have emailed them with the details of the top mount with dimensions so they know what they need to do.
Why they let Nige take his I have no idea but it may be that due to Pete leaving on Friday the right hand didn't know what the left was doing so Nige that one will have to go back.
They were apologetic and at the end of the day we all make mistakes and who ever says other wise is a liar.

As they have to make up a new top section I have asked if they can increase the diameter below the rubbers where the lower thick washer sits to make it such that the thick washer is no longer required.
The thick washer does get a bit of stick as it gets dished, could be due to the dampers getting worn or just the odd pot hole, well not so odd on our roads.
