....Nige has CLEARLY stated that he isn't in a position to take the reins, and everyone else seems to be taking one step back.
I think there are 2 problems with it (in addition to the fact that the last update to the list was over 6 months ago)....
1) The 'usual suspects' for Group Buys are all missing from the list (because we either have them already from the first run, or don't want/need them), and perhaps it is time for someone else to take the leap towards greatness and put themselves up for this one?????
2) There seems to have been an initial assumption that the parts were availlable, and just needed to be ordered, when that may or may not be the case at all. (I don't know, and don't need to find out
).Personally, I don't know if the parts came from Birmingham, Brussels or Brunei - if there are any moulds in existance which could be used, or purchased, or the cost for any of it.....
If I was seriously interested in the parts, and was on the list, I would have made a few enquiries to see what the state of play was, and to see if the whole project was even possible.
I'm not saying it is, & I'm not saying it isn't - just that no-one seems to want them badly enough to send an e-mail/PM or 2 to find out
Not wishing to speak for Nige (who may or may not have some answers/leads/pointers/contacts/people to try), but has anyone actually asked him for any information about the first run?, or is everyone hoping for someone else to do it?
C'mon guys - if you want the parts, just ask! - You can only be told "NO", and then this project can either move on, or be binned.
Surely, a question to the original organiser wouldn't be too hard (He doesn't bite) - but he is a busy man with a life outside of Group Buys for LEC.
Followed by an enquiry (to anyone who may then come to light) would easily decide if there was a future to the whole thing or not
Having done a couple of Group Buys I soon found out that they weren't hard at all (until Smiffy either ran off just as the bill was being presented, or Hi-jacked the whole thing and claimed all the glory
), and this could be an ideal 'first step' for someone who hasn't had a go, but is prepared to step up to the plate - as buys go, they don't get much simpler than ones where there is only one commodity to worry about, from one supplier. (but not as much fun as spending 4 days in a cold dusty warehouse sorting through thousands of parts bins, looking for hundreds of different bits, to ship all round the world by 6 different couriers 
).I hearby give notice that unless someone makes some progress (even if only posting an intention) on this thread, I will be seriously considering locking and/or deleting it very soon.
