....just can't bring myself to edit the list at the moment....!

I have got a couple of quotes for shipping...about £275 per set to the U.S. ...guessing weights / dimensions :(

But maybe somebody can come up with something better...

Star Motors sounds like they have typical Parts Department.....(I should know), but is it worth trying Lotus cars U.S.A. direct?

I'll not edit the list yet, But soon I will have to place the order, so keep us informed of developments.

Let's just hope you can pull a rabbit out.... your end.....So to speak...

The problem with the USA Lotus dealer network is that they now list all exclusively M100 parts as NLA since the agreement to let Dave Bean be the exclusive distributor for all "classic" Lotus car parts (all Lotus 1991 & older). I would think contacting Lotus USA might garner the same response. The only real hope, I would presume, would be to avoid the issue of mentioning the M100 altogether, and if pressed, spit out a garbled 19-9-5! Mentioning only the aftersales list is what made the delivery through my local dealer possible, since the local dealer is/was just performing a service under orders from "Hethel HQ." Lastly, Dave Bean does not involve himself with Lotus aftersales in any way.

All in all, without the aftersales personnel agreeing to make this sale, I can't possibly see how it will take place.

Is this for surface freight or for air freight?
Since I don't "need" them anytime soon (not having an Elan. . .), I'm happy to wait. Perhaps if we get a large enough package together, might that save on freight costs?
Either way Dave, if you're willing to assist, I'm still in for 8.

Just as an FYI, outside of extra-cost 'overnight' orders Dave Bean replenishes his stock by purchasing an entire container volume of Lotus spares. This amounts to a shipment being sent every couple of months, whenever his software tells him that the intended order of parts has the standard size 40' shipping container nearly full.

In case anyone talks to him, and you will almost assuredly talk to him, I just wanted you to know that the shipping cost to him is negligible, since containerized shipping done by boat & rail is little bothered by weight, and is purely a volume affair (although further shipping from California to you will of course cost something).

Just an idea .How do the antiques guys get old brown furniture over to the States.I'm sure the do it on the cheap.They would have to with small profits in that type of furniture.

20lbs, give or take.

I don't know this for sure, but weighed my SE rim when I was having trouble finding tyres of the correct weight. It came to 18lbs and I know the S2 is slightly heavier.
And I enjoy weighing stuff.

Those shipping rates seem way too high. I just plugged in 20 wheel sized packages on Fedex.com, going from Loughborough (only post code I know by memory) to Denver, and the total was less than 1200 pounds, or 240 pounds per set. And that was for International Priority, which would get them here in a couple days. You ought to be able to go through an ocean freight consolidator and get it for 1/3-1/2 of that I would guess.

They're around 10kg each.

I got a new one, I have scales, I am an engineer ...! :D

Quick quote on parcel2go is ~£150for 4 wheels using Fedex with £500 insurance.

i couldnt wait for the group buy so orderd them from a main dealer,
( just a word of warning,)
my boxes arrived looking like thay had been delivered in a cement mixer, the packaging is shite,
ONE RIM HAD A BIG FLAT SPOT
the parts manager unpacked them to check them, and spotted the dent, THANKFULLY,
will get replaced no problem,
CHECK THEM OVER BEFOR YOU LEAVE THE DEALER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same as the group buy price, rims , bolts , centres, metal shrader valves,
check them as well iv'e one valve missing!!!!!!

Sorry for the delays on this...(whippit, you are like a....whippit!)

...there is still work on the US arm of this group buy to sort out, but in the meantime I would like to get orders placed for those in the UK. :banana:

no they have to be metal.

don't know why though .. but they do...
Jim Clark S2 - 1/12. The one with the Yellow spoke wheels . No 613 on dash (pushed in to factory in wrong order 615 on tub)
