It would be if you wanted to pay for a genuine Lotus part as that would add an aditional £41.21 a side or £82.42 for both sides.

Hi Everyone .... could these be a better replacement for the 8 inner wishbone polyflex bushes I purchased in june 09 from South West Lotus ? Or can someone illucidate more to a non techie guy

Reason for this possible dumb ass question is that I fitted 2 new front goodyear tyres 1 month later and having the camber, caster and toe aligned at the same time, only to discover Feb 2010 ,that my 2 front tyres have completly worn out on the inside..t
Took car to the alignment centre this sat where they proceeded to show me that these bushes had "gone" ....

Any thoughts,recommendations?

I have never liked the use of poly bushes in this type of application and there a number of issues that these bushes do not address.
With the original bush the rubber is bonded to the steel inner and outer and the rubber then flexes as the arm moves as it is supposed to do, hence you clamp the bush with the load on the arm which allows about the same amount of movement in both directions.
The poly bushes are not bonded so they can cause problems with stiction and binding resulting in excessive wear and finally failure.
I have seen these used buy others and have seen what can happen to them so I am not surprised they have failed, at the end of the day the aftermarket forces driving the use of these bushes is cost as they are in general a lower cost option than using rubber bushes.

The loads on these bushes are like this

so the loads they are expected to take are in just about all plains but the one that is most critical is the torsional load as the are torsion bushes.

The bushes for the lower wishbone are as close as one can get to the original, manufactured in the same way as the original with the rubber bonded to both the inner and outer steel part and using a rubber of the same shore hardness as the original.

IF someone can show me a good reason to use them then....................

Update.
I am having difficulty getting T45 tube in the correct sizes and because of this I have decide to change the material to 4130 chrome moly which is stronger but this should not effect the cost.
I am looking to import the required material from the USA but this will depend on the price I get quoted and all the material which weighs in at around the 200Kg will need to be shipped sea freight (£250.00) from the USA as I am not paying in excess of £1500.00 to air freight it.

Update to keep you all in the loop.

I have managed to sort out the material for this project which has proven to be a pain in the ...............
I have sourced the material from the USA, could have purchased through a UK company BUT they wanted to air freight it over from the USA and as the weight of the material is around the 220kg mark you can imagine how expensive that was going to be. For one of the tubes which is to take the ball joint and is the thickest I was quoted £46.00 a foot, going direct to the USA I got this down to well less than half that figure and even allowing for duty etc it is still well below what I would have been charged buying it from a UK company.
This will delay things slightly as I can not get the parts laser cut till I have the material which is likley to be 4 weeks away but at least the welding jig is made and I will make a test pieces out of mild steel to check it.

This is getting costly not that it effects the price as yet and probably won't.
The 4130 chrome moly material is an out lay of £4500.00 thats on top of the tooling for the bushes as £1500.00 so if any of you can increase the deposit it will take some of the finacial burden off me.

I have to cover a minimum of £6k so an additional £150 should do it but as much or as little as you like as it will all help.
