Dear USA M100 Owners:

Thanks to DaveB and his trailblazing work, Bell and Colvill has been able to wrangle similar (though not identical) pricing for us here in the states. We need a minimum of 20 wheels to get 100GBP per wheel. Otherwise, its 122GBP per wheel. One center cap and four lug bolts per wheel are extra at 6GBP per wheel regardless of the number of wheels purchased.

No VAT and shipping/insurance will be in addition to the prices quoted per wheel. My thoughts are to go slow boat (as in surface) to Denver and then break bulk there.

Right now I have 6-10 of the twenty needed for the preferred pricing.

The representative at Bell and Colvill asked that I make it abundantly clear that TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE if we want to take advantage of this.

Dear All (USA and UK folks):

I spoke to the guys at Bell and Colvill today and they reminded me that the wheels that are being blown out by Lotus are new OLD stock. They are NEW, but don't expect every wheel to be PRISTINE.

Do I need them? No. (Although I haven't inspected them fully for any damage - your last post concerned me a little!) I've got an illness though, for buying more M100 gear than I need. I may get an extra set for repair replacement / another M100 in the future....

But I DEFINITELY want to get in on the hardware deal you struck - £ 24 for all of the lug bolts and valve stems? That's a terrific price! Can we get in on that right away?

FYI for those who don't yet have them; if you let these wheels fall over after removal from the car they will strike face-first, so to speak, and you just better pray the wheel's not standing on hard concrete. Most wheels don't have inner-metal standing proud of the rim, but on these wheels the most convex/anterior part of the wheel is the "inner" circle of metal around the lug bolts. If Lotus is saying there is wheel damage that is where I'd suspect it to be the worst.

I always lay these wheels on their backside after removing them from the car, hoping to avoid this. Like any pendulum with weigh hanging over the "belly", they are also more apt to fall over.

Dear Randy:

First, there are no valve stems involved here. Second, the "hardware" consists of one center cap and four wheel bolts per wheel. Third, I suspect you won't be happy with the hardware because I believe the wheel bolts for the S2 wheels are different from those used on SE wheels. I'm not sure about this either, but I think the center cap for the BBS S2 wheel is different from that used on the SE wheel.

Dear Matt:

The wheels are still in their original boxes, so your concern of having the wheels fall over is probably not applicable here. The person I spoke to at Bell and Colvill was talking more along the lines of the wheels needing a good buffing with a cleaner wax, a light scratch or a pock mark in the paint here and there. This does not afflict all of the wheels, but more out of an abundance of caution, he wanted to remind us that these wheels are 15 or so years old. They are new OLD stock. In other words, he did not want to ship a pallet full of S2 wheels one third of the way around the world and have a bunch of pissed off people.

FWIW, I bought a pair of NOS wheels from Dave Bean last year that should be the same or similar to those involved here and they were fine. Granted, I am nowhere near the perfectionist you are, but for my purposes they are more than fine.

I collected my wheels today from Formula 1 in Newcastle.

They charged me £460 + vat

Total of £529.00

I have just checked the thread and it says £100 + vat per wheel.

So should it have been £460 0r £529

I will ring them tomorrow if it should have been £460..

Tony, I'm sorry to hear about this, but you HAVE been overcharged. As noted, the VAT has been done twice.

This mistake was also made at one other dealer...a quick phone call and it was all sorted.

Give them a ring and ask them to contact Aidan Coughlan in Lotus Aftersales if they are still unsure.

...If they are unreceptive, don't waste your time....PM me and I'll waste mine instead!! I started this and I am responsible if it goes wrong.

It's easily done. This happened to me with my first aftersales list purchase. A phone call to the dealer, plus e-mailing them a copy of the aftersales list, sorted it out quite quickly as well.

In my case lesson learnt and I now always check I'm being charged correctly on collection.

Well I spoke to Albert @ Formula One Lotus Newcastle.

He said he had spoken to Aiden @ Lotus and that I was charged correct price of £460 + vat = £529

He said " He wondered who I had spoken to cos It couldn't have been Aiden"

Rather cheeky chap, So I wont be using them again.

PM'd Dave and hopefully he can sort it.

Picked up the wheels from Murray Motors in Edinburgh today and I can confirm that they're perfect. The parts dept had opened the boxes to check them for me as I didn't fancy a five-hour round trip just to find something wrong, then resealed them.

They are new and shiny, well packaged and protected, and come with bolts, metal valves and centre caps. If they've been in storage since the last S2 was made, they've been well looked after. All-in-all a good deal. Thanks again for setting this up.

Hi Dave

I got my wheels picke up from Murray Motore on last Wednesday. The guys down there opend the boxes and chekeced them. one of my boxes has had a bash but the wheel looks fine, will try and get it spun to check balance otherwise everthing spot on. Thanks for your hard work in organising this group buy
