I can't speak to Magnacores but I'd use Kingsborne again. Kingsborne is located here in San Diego. When I first got Smaug, a faulty Accel coil caused one of his Kingsborne wires to burn through. I called the company, then took the faulty wires over (they're about 20 minutes from here.) They custom-made a new set while I waited, even including packaging and silicone dielectric grease! I would consider an even larger diameter wire if using MSDs and high boost. Be prepared to scrap the stock wire separators, though. Kingsborne say pinching the insulation to fit stock brackets will cause trouble.

Befitting our Lotus, the company is run by an expatriated British family. The quintessential English cottage industry, transplanted to sunny San Diego. One more reason (however silly) to use Kingsborne.

Before we assume "cheap", we should ask "compared to what?" I'm flying on American Airlines. They now charge handsomely for checked luggage. I'm contemplating wearing five days of clothing in layers so I don't need a suitcase.

Seriously, I'll be bringing a carryon but I travel light. I should have room to squeeze in a few sets of wires (3-5) for folks coming to Hethel. Once the purchase is made, I can swing by Kingsborne and pick them up. Let me know if this works for the group.

Does anyone else see irony in a yank bringing Lotus parts to Hethel?

My pleasure - just a small thing I can do in return for all the help with tickets, etc. for Hethel. All I ask is that we have everything wrapped up the 1st week of Sept., latest. That will give me time to get over to Kingsborne and pick up the parts.

Just curious, I hadn't seen this thread, but I just bought a set from RobietheRobot. I got the red firebraid ones. $59 shipped U.S. Did I get good ones? It seems to be a decent price.

not familiar with Firebraid. Most folks around here use Magnecore or Kingsborne. Let us know how they work out.

Here's a link.

The normal wires are 8mm, and the firebraid ones have some kind of additional protective coating.

I think you can damage them if you put them in the standard clips Chris - I'm not sure if alternatives are available though.

If you want paying up front Doug, I don't mind coordinating it this end and getting it across without the multitude of PayPal charges.
