Wind Deflector/Wind Blocker - Classic Additions - £125

Hi guys, I know - yet another group buy - but I think this is a good deal  .

http://www.classicadditions.com/ make a wind deflector for our Elan's - no drilling required - fits in the existing map pocket fixings and seems to have been well received. Only downside is the list price £185.00 - Ouch!

So here is the deal - if we place an order for 5 or more - we can have them for £125 including VAT, delivery to your home and a couple of quid (ish) to the LEC coffers. They'll combine postage at no additional cost, ie same flat rate whether they are delivering 1, 2 or 3 etc - (saving £8.50 per deflector), and will deliver to Europe - at an additional cost - just let us know where and I'll find out. 8)

There's a piccie and comment on this thread: http://forum.lotuselancentral.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=9245&p=171147&hilit=classic+additions#p171147

This is how it will work, once there are enough....you send me the money and give me the delivery addresses, I'll place the order and they'll deliver to you :-D

Yes I agree but unfortunately with my youth I was overly keen to order one at Silverstone last year lol. Don't regret buying one though :-D

PDF is here:
Fitting Instructions

This is what pursuaded me that it is a well made thing. I'll prolly store it in garage during winter and then nail it in place for rest of year.

Best wishes,

Oh dear. I bought one of these a month or two ago at what I thought, at the time, was a good price. Compared to what I paid (£155 all in), if you want this wind deflector it's an absolute bargain at this price.

Good Points:
Beautifully made quality product, rigidly constructed, extremely effective, looks great, brackets installed in well under 10 minutes, doesn't foul the operation of the hood.

Bad Points:
One of the thumbwheel screws on mine was a little tight but was sorted with a spot of 3in1, the top bar of the deflector cuts across the bottom half of the rear mirror view. (However I suppose they had three choices - drop the top bar below the mirror view and reduce its effectiveness, raise the top bar above the mirror view and foul the hood or do it as they have done)

Overall then would I recommend one? At a price of £125 all in ? Yes.

I'll be at Donington on the Saturday, so if anyone wants to have a look and sit in my car to see the effect on the view through the rear view mirror they are very welcome.

Roland

I'm interested, though from an aesthetic point of view I wish they'd done it with angled corners like the osiris mx5 one.

Also... does anyone think it would be practical to cut/file out the fixing holes on the deflector into slots so it could easily be dropped in and pulled out by simply loosening the knurled knobs ?

Chris.

is it a one off??...the offer that is??
just thinking of the others.....if the 'order' is 5 minimum and the offer is continuous then no probs....
however if its a one off deal then Id be tempted to wait a bit to see if others might be interested
just thinking out loud
cheers

OK so we have the minimum number, just incase there are any more wanting to join in I'll keep the list open until the end of the month

closing date is therefore 31st March 2009.

I'll send you all a PM by the end of this week giving payment details etc, all I'll need from you is the money, delivery address incl. postcode, and I guess the model of your car - just incase there are any differences - which I'm pretty sure there aren't.

As soon as I have all the money, I'll get them ordered - they recon on 1-2 weeks delivery - so if all goes according to plan, you might even have them before Donny :-D
Assuming Classic Additions are good to their word.

I got the impression it might be a bit of an on-going thing - I'll check and confirm, they seemed relaxed about the whole thing, I just wanted to get the first ones ordered so they know I am not a time waster, also so anyone going to Donny (not me I hasten to add - working) might have it if everything goes smoothly.
I was intending to squeeze at least one more run after this, perhaps finishing Mid June or even July.
If you're anything like me, cash is a little tight, not helped by all of the group buys going on.....including this one - I just want it for the summer - if we have one....come to think of it, it seems to have rained ever since I got the car 2 years ago

The list so far:

1) BFG in the BRG
2) saska
3) mnemonix (Chris)
4) martin_bailey_1
5) Martin R

Sorry - think you might have the wrong end of the stick Elanman
Delivery is direct to each persons address, the Donny bit was just so that anyone making the trip could travel up more comfortably, and arrive at the venue with hair relatively in place (not an issue for people like me - the folically challenged, I might add)

OK,

You should all have PM's for this batch of 5 :-D .

I've spoken to Classic Additions and they have confirmed this will be an ongoing price as long as we order in 5's, so I guess I can start another list, it's just that anyone who orders may have to wait a bit.

The list for this batch is still open until the end of the month as detailed before.

This Batch:
1) BFG in the BRG
2) saska
3) mnemonix (Chris)
4) martin_bailey_1
5) Martin R
6) anyone else?

Next Batch - (closes when minimum 5 names on the list):
1) ?
