Lotus Elan Central

So I'm ordering a replacement throttle pedal spring, since my existing one was broken, with unpleasant consequences for the pedal feel.
Having measured the remaining part of the existing spring and poked around a few spring specialists I've found a similar part, but I've got to order a minimum of five. Anybody else need one? About £2.77 each...

If anyone is interested in comparing one of these to an intact original to confirm that they behave similarly, let me know. I suspect my original will have loosened up slightly over the last 18 years, and I only had part of it to test for spring rate.

Well, they've arrived and as expected the spring was a pain to install. Still, it's in now and the pedal feels much better, even if my fingers feel much worse... it appears to be a good match for the (now unavailable) original.
Those on the list, if you pm me your addresses I'll post them out.

Since I still have a little slack in my throttle cable I'm going to need a new one. Faced with paying £37.65 for the Lotus version, complete with plasticky pedal fixings and limited adjustment range, I'll probably make up my own for about £20. Do we reckon there'd be interest in doing a batch?

Darn just replaced my throtle cable with an original. I have kept the old one as an emergency spare.

Good luck with a group buy, £20 is a bargin so is sure to spark an interest.

Hmm... ok, I guess there may be some interest.

What I'll do is prototype a cable and test it, then find a volunteer to check it fits their car. After that I'll either make up the cables myself or have the component supplier make them if there are more than I can handle in my limited spare time.

The current plan is to use teflon lined conduit with a black pvc cover, but I could do stainless steel braided conduit as an option. Other colours of standard conduit might be available. The throttle end will be similar to stock, but the pedal end will have a galvanized quick-release clevis pin, possibly with some additional length adjustment if there's room.

I'll start a new group buy thread when I'm happy with the prototype.
