Rear lower wishbone Cam-Bolts READY TO SHIP!

Postby jimbob » Sat 12.06.2010, 18:56

My project has come to the point where I really could be done with a new pair of rear lower wishbone cam-bolts (A100D0059F). As I'm sure a lot of you are well aware these have not been available for some time, so I'm having to get some made up for my Elan.

I'm sure there a lot of elans out there with these bolts seized to the bush, the only way to get them off without damaging other parts is to cut the bolts.

Obtaining the bare bolts themselves are not a problem, but I have to get the special concentric parts laser cut out of 4mm steel, have them professionally tig welded to the bolts and then get the finished item zinc plated and yellow passivate coated.

These parts will be identical to the originals, the only difference being the concentric part, rather than being pressed it will be laser cut.

I thought I would see if there was any interest here before I go ahead and get a couple of sets made, so if you want a pair just add your name !

With regards to costs, between materials, laser cutting time, welders labour, zinc passivate coating and courrier costs etc going between these guys I am hoping to keep costs as low as possible, Target price hopefully no more than a tenner a pair (2 cambolts, 2 nylocks, 2 washers all zinc + Yellow passivate coated). Of course the more I can get made the cheaper they get, thats the theory anyway !

As it stands at the moment I'm waiting for the laser cutting company to get back to me with regards to a price.

Hopefully be starting this in the next 2-4 weeks

Regards Jamie

These bolts are the concentric cam that adjusts the rear tracking !

Right, I've had several quotes from laser cutting companys, some of which were a shocking price, so won't be using them again !

In order to get the laser costs down would need to be ordering thousands of these concentric parts

Still on target (just) to keep these at £10 a pair, will have to dangle some beers in front of the welder :-D

Will keep you posted with any updates !
