Windscreen Corner Trim Blocks - All gone

Postby inkitin » Mon 29.11.2010, 21:30

Considering the number available, hardly a Group Buy but I didn't know in what section other than this to post.

Discussion thread here.

I've now been contacted by Dave Bean and they have just 5 of these windshield plastic corner trim blocks available and will supply them at $12.99 (£8.50) per block.

They have provisionally quoted $30 to ship all 5 blocks to me but are hoping to do it for less. They're going to give me a more accurate quote for shipping, now they have my address. So, just to be on the safe side taking their $30 shipping cost, $30 (£20.00) divided by 5 gives $6 ( £4.00) per block.

This gives a total cost for one block of £ 12.50 which is what you need for one car (2 corners from each block)

I'm prepared to have the blocks shipped to me and I'll post them out at no cost.

Now the list.

Blimey, that list filled up quickly !

OK. I'm now making final arrangements with Dave Bean. I have to say they've been extremely helpful thus far.

I'll post back on here when I know the final details.

Woody, also anybody else who adds themselves to the reserve list, I'm going to try and see if I can find any more of these. No promises but I can only give it a go. Any assistance with the search will be gratefully received! 8)

OK. I spoke to Dave Bean on the telephone today and the 5 blocks are now ours. I've also paid for them, so they're definitely coming our way.

An alternative method of delivery has been found but that means the blocks will not be with us until mid January. I thought this was OK as there won't be much Elan driving being done between then and now, in any case lack of these doesn't force our cars off the road. I'll post details of the costs when I finally know them but the cost definitely won't be more than in my original post.

For the reserve list, I'm hopeful that I've found an additional supply. I don't know how many there might be available but hope to find out tomorrow.

We're getting there, slowly ! :-)

Re: Windscreen Corner Trim Blocks - just 3 left

Postby inkitin » Thu 02.12.2010, 20:27

As indicated above, I've now managed to source another 4 of these little blighters. :-) I think I may have cornered the world market in them !

So, Woody, you've now got one and there's also room for another 3 names.

The one's I've managed to source today are somewhat cheaper than the Dave Bean ones so what I propose to do, in order to be fair, is add up the total cost and divide by 9. Hope everybody is happy with that? Additionally the 4 from today will be with me in a few days so I've coloured in red those who will receive the first batch of 4.

NSR250 and Brit-Car-Nut, please PM me (or inkitin) your addresses.

No point in bringing your goods back to England only to post back to the USA!

Thanks for the PMs guys. Just to confirm these are already on their way from Dave Bean to an address in Florida, wherefrom yours will be despatched to you, and the remainder brought back here.

Roland - sorry to look like I've hijacked the thread, but it would have meant multiple PMs otherwise

These quadruplets were delivered to the inkitin household today. I'll get them sent out to the red gang as soon as I can this week, hopefully before next Saturday.

I know it's distasteful but I'm afraid that we do have to bring money into this deal again.

OK, I've done the calculations and each block will cost £10 ($15) delivered. The proceeds do slightly more than cover the total delivered purchase cost but it's a nice round figure for each and the small surplus will be donated to charity.

I'll PM each purchaser individually with delivery details and payment options.
