7 speed gearbox

Postby Dico » Fri 01.04.2011, 06:29

Hi all

Myself, Monty & Geoff Smith have been working behind the scene on this for quite some time now. The boxes will be refurbished and are on an exchange basis.
Estimated fuel saving (cruising at 70mph) will be above %30.
The first 10 units to be produced will be available for purchase at a cost of £395. Any further gearboxes will cost £1295. A substansial saving for the first 10!

FIRST COME FIRST SERVED

1- Dico
2- Monty
3- Geoffsmith

Monty has agreed to fit the first 5 free of charge.

No PM's please.

Count me in. The extra gearing would be very handy for some of the mountainous roads further up North

PS Did I hear a rumour that there was ongoing LEC/LOTUS research into a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) to help our Elans go even faster ??

£395 - thats cheap. I have the last two assuming one could be fitted to my daily driver - I would really appreciate Bob Browns thoughts or indeed others in respect of adapting the box for a 1987 Beige Reliant Rialto.

Sorry guys - I'm going to have to back out. I just re-read the post and noticed that Monty will only fit the first 5 boxes for free. I have contacted my mechanic and he reckons it'll cost me the best part of £500 + VAT so as Duncan Bannatyne says "I'm out" unless Monty has a change of heart and will do mine for nowt as I've been a pal for many years. I would consider a small donation to the Geoff Smith retirement fund - sorry I'm being facetious - I mean the LEC funds

I think you got that all wrong neckwinder-in-chief. It's actually PERS (Potential Energy Recovery System) and its being developed in Italy. All I've been able to find out is that it is code named FADRUPAMO.

what is interesting is that all things are possible but may be one of these would be better option

and would solve all the problems with gear cables and no need for a short shift kit as its a six speed sequential but cost is close to £10k never mind getting it to fit!
