I need to have my water pump and belts done this summer so intend to order them in the next couple of weeks. Just a couple of thoughts...

1) Is it better to go for the DAYCO timing belt kit with the new camshaft/crankshaft seals ?? Fiver extra. Advantages/disadvantages ??

2) Does the GATES water pump have the correct "rounded" teeth

If you see excess oil around the back of the cam gear or the bottom of the Crank gear, then you need the seals. If you are not sure, then I suppose it is better to have them and not need them instead of need them and not have them. From Lotus, the cam seals are £7.30 each + VAT and the crank (oil pump) seal is £7.63 + VAT

I don't recall anyone commenting publicly on the GATES water pump but I consolidated a shipment for a LEC member that had 2 GATES pumps and one was OK and the other one was WRONG. Same part number on the box for both.
The only ones I know are right are the Airtex AW9220, the BeckArnley pumps were all correct per previous posts and the Bosch pump was correct but RA no longer offers it. I installed a Cardone pump on my car many years ago and it was OK. It now refers to WP718 which is different from Airtex which refers to WP717. The controversy started when GM changed the pump and belt for the GEO Storm 1.8L in late 1992.

I am sorry this doesn't exactly answer your question, but Rock Auto ships what they get from their suppliers and do not verify the correct pumps are in the box.

Alan I believe so but I only looked up what I needed.
I'm happy to change things if everyone is in agreement. I thought the pump was verified ok bbut if there is another that is guaranteed ok I'm happy to go with it likewise with the seal kit ( hadn't seen anyone saying that they had needed to do them as well.

Gates #K060415 is the one listed for A/C cars - £8.16 on rockauto.co.uk site. (or a GOODYEAR Part # 4060415 for £3.83)

Dont want to mess up this thread but I am new here.

What is the advantage of this group buy over buying direct from RA? Is it just the saving on combined shipping offset with the onward postage in the UK?
I assume both will get hit for custom charges.

Rock Auto are a U.S. firm and the item prices are cheaper than in the UK, however the postage impacts the cost, this can be negated somewhat by ordering in multiples and then dividing the postage costs up; there is a point though when the quantity being ordered reduces this benifit in which instance, as I understand it, several smaller orders can be used as a vehicle for reducing the cost again.
