After about 3 hours of being parked up in very heavy rain the space behind the seats was flooded !!!
Just a couple of drips from front screen ,not enough to worry about. Any ideas please ?

Ingress below (or down the sides of the glass into the bottom and out) the doors across the sills is my prime candidate - were you on a slight slope per chance?
Followed by ingress above the B pillars.

My first option applies then.

I finally remembered where all the "leak stopping" info is. It's not a Service Bulletin as I wrongly remembered - it's in the Service Notes manual itself. See Addendum no 1 "Water Ingress; areas of attention" pp 55-73.

It's quite comprehensive. Too comprehensive actually - I don't think you need to do it all.

About all they missed is adding extra foam seal (or silicon sealant) to the top of the windscreen to prevent water getting in past the header seal and dripping down at the A-pillar. This is a better solution than the "drain tube" method in my opinion, as it treats the cause (water getting past the seal, not the effect (water dripping onto your knees).

John :)

You can order any 1 of the following:-
1. Rubber P Section P43
or
2. Plain expanded Neoprane PEN23
With either product, just glue it on top of the existing seal around the top of the windscreen. Both products are very flexible and can be cut to shape easily.
Thixofix contact adhesive A139 is fine as the adhesive
The basic idea is shown here:-

We had the car out in the rain for three days this week...
Looking for the source of a leak in the passenger side footwell I found this piece of sponge wet through. It’s directly under the large flat section of the dash and behind the glove box.
Does anyone know where the water may have come from? The A pilled seals are OK and the wheel arch liner is in place.
Thanks
Ray

Ray,
I suggest it's the foam seal joint in the air inlet ducting which has perished, allowing rain and spray water into the air duct and then to the passenger footwell. It's been mentioned a couple of places:
here, and
here for instance.

Thank you John,
Is it safe to assume it’s behind the passenger side wheel arch liner?

Ah, this old cherry - yep, up in the innards of the wing. Not the easiest place to access but I agree with John's diagnosis.
Wrap the old sponge-like material with some tyre inner tube and you'll find your heater efficiency improves too although I'm not entirely sure why, but mine did.
