You might struggle on price - S2s have been known to go for less than 8K and Elises are drifting well below the 10K amount. IMHO secondhand car prices are drifting south.
Good luck

Excellent rant! I totally agree with you!
It was nice to see you post some facts and figures although I noticed that you didn't mention the Honda 2000 jobey. I had a bit of fun with one yesterday and, although it was fun, he outdid me. Its faster in a straight line (as you might expect from the 2.0L engine) and was only very slightly slower round corners (and other cars).
The funny thing was though - all it made me want to do is buy one of ElanScanMans chips, cos the elan looks much better!

the best comment I've had so far-made me laugh
"what a whiner, the reason people want to pay peanuts for an elan is because they are buying it for their wife/girlfriend/mistress. Why? because it is a girls car, get over it... what a shame, and you a cohen brothers fan too! (get an esprit, the mans car!)"
may have to reply.....
You came in that thing? Your'e braver than I thought!

Aren't most Elan owners male?
Wonder if the guy has a Smart car

Men are like a fine wine.
They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the sh * t out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

The Elan is a precision tool.
The Esprit is a tool extension.

A girls car!!!!!!!!
What a complete knob head the person who said that must be, you really should give them some abuse back!
Personally I think Elan's are one of the few convertable sports cars that don't look like girls cars!

yes, don't confuse "great looking" with "feminine";
less you may also think a McLaren F1 a girl's car too

I paid well above market price for Rita and still think I got a bargain! PO and CO are very happy and still bound together by their excitement for a engineering marvel. Blood oath signed and sealed! Besides, unborn children need to grow up knowing the joys of wrenching, right Dave M?
