Does anyone know the Isuzu thermostat that will work in our car?
What Isuzu car is it from, or what specific motor? I saw it somewhere on this list and wrote the number down, but the auto part store said the number I had was not a correct part number!?
Thanks,
Dan A

Isuzu Impulse RS (turbo) 1991-1992 4XE1-T
I thouught they come in two different temperature ranges, if I remember right. Check the one you are taking out of the car and it should have a temp marking on it.

Thanks for the link. I am not real tech savy!

I was wondering if there is a search engine for the forum that I am not seeing?

I've decided I need to replace my themostat too. Is there a part number or manufacturer cross reference for a vehicle in the UK so i could walk into a local motor factor or halfrauds and pick one up rather than having to order from SJS or the likes?

Ooops., very late on this but can confirm the UK Izuzu Piazza Turbo has the same thermostat as the Elan. Approx £8 from motor factors

Hi
Hope this helps.
Quinton Hazell part ref no is: QTH102K and about £6 from any good motor factors.
Regards
Nick
EDIT by Geoff 15th June 2008: While the QTH102K fits, it is an 88°C thermostat. Your temperature gauge may sit at the more traditional position of approximately half way up the dial but the engine is running too hot. It should be replaced with QTH100K which is an 82°C 'stat.

Bit the Bullet today and tackled the Thermostat

seing as I have the system drained for a new water pump.
However the old 'stat differs from the Halfords one - it is an 'eccentric' design with a rubber seal and a vent whereas the Halfords one is concentric with no vent
Not sure if the old one (left on the pic) is a genuine part or not but it is the right temp rating. The Halfords one fits OK but do we need the eccentric with vent type?
Thoughts please, before I put it back together!

Can't really comment on the Halfrauds one, as I never got mine from there.
All I can say is that the Gates ones i sourced from USA are identical to the OE ones (ie eccentric with the vent, rated at 180 degrees).
I believe WillB has used the Halfords one, as has Paul Watkins (assuming it's the same one you have) without any problems.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I put a Halfords one in and it's worked fine ever since.
Better in fact.
It warms up quicker. You can feel it through the heater.
Which means I should be getting better economy.

Thanks for the reasurance guys.
A closer inspection of the Halfords unit revealed a small v shaped vent - you can just see it in the RH pic above. This means the 'stat is never fully shut off but is more in line with the OE one so I'm a bit happier

Enough to fit the bugga anyway
