I`m thinking of replacing the hood, and frame as it needs sorting, on mine while i still can and as i`m based in the South East i`m assuming my best bet would be to:

Get the hood and frame ordered from Trim Tech and get someone else to do the work.

I have seen noted Esher Sunroof and Autohoods, has anyone used them?

Anyone else used another company in this part of the world?

Or is my best bet just to visit Coventry and get Trim Tech to do it all?

I got Trim Tech to do mine a couple of weeks ago, and they did a good job - but you'll need to leave the car with them. Good train service Euston, Nuneaton, Bedworth and Craig will pick up - dead easy, £33. Pete's no longer there, but apparently "available" if they get in the cack. There's a lot of talk about no two Elans being the same and the hoods being a right b****r to fit to some cars. Mine apparently went on fairly easily so maybe not their biggest test (Pete not req'd), but I'm v pleased with it - no lift at the back etc. Not sure how much others would charge for "just fitting" - as you pronbably know, TT is £200 Good luck!

hi all , the plastic trim that goes across the front of the hood on my S2 is in very bad condition bits are just breaking off . is it possible to get a new one or secondhand one ? . no hope finding one here in perth

When you say plastic trim, I take it youare talking about rubber seals. If so the are notorious for perishing.

Initially I would contact Trim Tech and see if they have any left. There are plenty of threads on this subject, just not so many seals left.

The pack from Trim Tech costs £250 unless they have a clearance sale on.

I think the reference is to the grey plastic grab handle (best way to describe it) on the inside of the hood.

Mine's falling to pieces too, don't think they are available (but never really asked the question) and I don't think Trim Tech would have anything to do with them as they are not actually part of the hood or frame, again, I stand to be corrected.

Oh ok, think you might struggle with that one.

I've been through the Lotus clearance stuff recently and don't remember seeing any of those.

Best chance is Stoneleigh or Donington but I think that may be a bit of a drive for you. :!:

thanks for the replies guys , yes i did mean the grab handle that is on the inside of the hood, i have started fiberglassing it back together and it seems to be holding ok . with a rub down and a coat or two of matt black i hope it might last for a while . thanks again regards ....paul

Just stumbled across this. Mine is also coming apart but I never got round to asking for opinions. Paul, could you start a new thread with a more appropriate title and post some pictures of your repair work? If they are no longer available, it would make a useful section in its own, rather than being buried in "replacing hood and frame".

Hi,
Im in the process of buying a Elan. The bad part is the roof it has a few holes in each about the size of a pint glass ( i dont know why) Can any one tell me a place that will do repairs. If not i want a place than can supply and fit a new hood for under £800 otherwise the car isnt worth getting.Again i call upon you all to help me out
