I`ll see if there`ll allow me to have the action cam running.

Just hope i don`t end up like this guy who did a day there in december

Cam shouldn't be a problem if it's securely fastened. Sometimes they ask you to fill out a form, best check with the guys on signing on. Looking forward to the footage!

Just don't do an Alan Menu and end up in the lake!

For my two penneth a few basics that might help you on your way.

1. Take your time to learn the circuit, it's very blind and hard to sight yourself. The cones are usually well placed and a good guide, you can trust them.

2. If it rains, keep a couple of meters from the left side of the start finish straight. The water pools there in patches and can cause severe aquaplaning - the car won't land before the tyre barrier (unless you're very lucky, ahem  ).

3. Always brake in a straight line approaching the corner. Judge your braking to just before the turn-in cone, come off the brakes and turn in to the corner. Get back on the throttle, but all you're trying to do is stop the car slowing down, not speed up. Once in to the corner, you shouldn't ever have to decrease the throttle, only add it - the Imprezza guy lifts off in the middle of the first corner and you can see the car's reaction. When you can see the exit or get to the apex, whichever's the later, accelerate away. DO NOT accelerate before the apex (the Imprezza guy did and had to lift off), just maintain speed - at first you'll go in too slow, but as you get quicker you'll find out why you shouldn't.

These, my son, are the keys to the kingdom. As you pick up experience you can refine this style, but it's basically what you'll find most race drivers doing.

Sure you'll have an awesome time, enjoy

:)

Another good tip.

As you know on a corner there is the 'turn in' point the 'apex' and the exit. When you hit the 'turn' in point you should be looking at the 'apex' and when you're just on the 'apex' you should be looking at the 'exit' point. Its very easy not to look ahead but by doing the above you'll be surprised how it helps with getting the optimum speed thru the corners.

Just got back
Chased a Ferrari round a full lap, wouldn't let us pass. Monty kept up on the straights but not enough power to overtake the Italian Beast. Finally the driver realised we were up his backside at every bend and let us pass.
And then....
Aproached the hill to Druids corner at 90mph, Monty braked before the bend, back end kicked out, he caught it but it flicked the rear end out in the opposite direction, then we're heading for the gravel pit sideways praying it does'nt flip
The gravel did its job and the wheels dug in nicely and stopped us well before the barriers :P

Track closed whilst we were recovered, no damage.

In car vid to follow :D

Whilst Monty dug the gravel out of his tyrewall back in the pit lane the Ferrari driver aproached us and we had a friendly chat.
He then went back on and wrote the bugger off into the barriers! :(
His young passenger son was a little upset :( :(

Jeeeeeez, sorry to hear about the Ferrari. What were the track conditions like? Its been bucketing down here. Well after that first blooding you'll find Bedford a lot safer. You'll be dropping that gravel for weeks btw - don't follow him to closely Paul!!!

Oh yes rain rain rain :-D made it interesting. There were loads going off and i was doing well overtaking most cars and not once did anyone pass me :-D so was quite suprised at how well i did, i was on the limit on the corners most of the time but u could feel that limit. The next thing to improve on is braking but hopefully in the dry  Pinky handled extremely well, who said front wheel drive can`t be a sports cars  The down side was my spin as i had do well all day until about 2pm  i felt the car going and thought i corrected it, next thing i was going side ways. The marshal said there was a bit of oil on the track, well thats my excuse :-D

Sound good Monty, anyway if you don't throw it off you will always be left wondering if you could have gone quicker. Good to see no damage done and as I've found in wet conditions an Elan is the match of much more exotic machinery.
