Mildew on the inside of my hood!

As the subject suggest I have a layer of mildew on the inside of my hood (edit: hood as in roof not bonnet), it kind of looks like I have a custom white headliner.

Is there a tried and tested way to get rid of it or does anyone have any tips/suggestions?

I haven't touched it yet for fear of just smearing it all around and making a mess.

i guess the car has been stood up for a while or has had been left somwhere dark? maybe been put away wet with a cover on it?

just clean it off with a cloth and soapy water regular use should help it stay clean...
quite a few elans suffer from this in the british winter .. damp cold lack of sun...

Funny thing is I use the car every day (about 40 miles), I guess I didn't notice it building up.

I have been told that Miltons sterilising fluid is quite good, though I haven't tried it so if you do use it, test it on an inconspicuous area first.

The Renovo hood treatment ultra proofer has some anti- mold/mildew gubbins in it, might be worth a look ?

I've recently cleaned and re-proofed my hood with it (I bought one of their kits) and I'm pretty impressed.

I have the same problem.
I think mine has come from leaving the car outside in all this wet weather.

Its caused by frequent condensation on the inside of the hood and, in my experience, this usually means you have a leak into the cabin which is keeping some carpet soggy and the interior humidity high. I'd say cleaning will fix the problem in the short term but sorting any leaks would be essential to prevent it coming back.
