Mobil Oil Filter

Postby DeanG » Fri 15.07.2005, 21:47

I've been using Mobil (Mobil 1) oil filters (M1-104) for a few years M1-104. Mobil representatives were at one of the LOG’s showing off their products. The cut-away looked good.

I use the genuine Lotus part as it has a different seal design and is easy to get off!

It costs a few quid more but given the location of the filter it can save a lot of swearing.

Purolator Pure One has some coating on the rubber seal that their regular model doesn't have. The inner filter elements are more dense. I read the comparison online somewhere long time ago with all the cut out pictures of many makes & models. (Fram's looks quite bad) Stick with it since then.

It is sure much lower price than Lotus'

Might move up to Mobil1 or try Bosch someday but those = 2 Pure One.

This wrench is my new toy, havn't tried it though :-D Click Me! Got it cheaper at local Pepboys. Usually I can just twist the filter out if I was the one putting the last filter in.

Monty is right - FRAM Filter p/no. PH6811 is what my dealer gave me.
A seal is a seal! A smear of clean oil on the seal face will assist later removal (clean the filter mounting face before installing the new filter).
