Nice, be grateful you don't have greenstuffs as my rear ones only last about 3k, they probably would have burned away before you finished on the track.

Have you scored the discs?

Keep an eye on your brake fluid level when you're burning through pads at that rate
Probably worth getting some dedicated trackday pads and a bunch of spare cotter pins :smt023

errmmm i`ve also bought green stuff pads for thw Wilwoods as an emergancey set. Not sure if i`ve got black stuff on the rear and there working fine. Supprised u`ve worn the pads so quick on the rear as there`s not braking effort on the rear. :?

The Disc aren`t perfect, i`ve cleaned them up to get a bit more life out of them as there only 18 months old. But i`ve got a spare set :-D

The 1st set was the Poly Q, 18 months and 1 trackday.

Smartpad well 1 week and 1 trackday

Now i`ve got the Poly E set on + a set of greenstuff as spare set.

I`ll see how the E`so, but i might go for even a higher temp pad

ps forgot to get a spare set of cotton pins when i placed my order with RallyDesign  I`ll see if i can get them local

I use Red stuff with my Hi Spec brakes for trackdays, they're ok for road use as well. They are certainly more durable than that! Have'nt yet bought the discs and calipers to change to Willwoods but intend to do so in future

Dudes, if you look at the Wilwood Technical Catalog http://catalogs.wilwood.com/2008_Tech_Catalog.pdf on pages 62 - 64, you are using pads with a MEDIUM wear rate, and in your best-case scenario (Q), a LOW wear rate. There is a high-friction (ie, lotsa stopping power but 'bitey') pad with an X-LOW wear rating that's good across the entire temperature range... the Wilwood 'A' pad compound.

15" Powerlite calipers:
Code: Select all
 AXLE SET  P/N PAD TYPE/COMPOUND
15A-8809K 7912 A  PolyMatrix
15B-8949K 7912 B  PolyMatrix
15E-8810K 7912 E  PolyMatrix
15H-8811K 7912 H  PolyMatrix
15Q-8812K 7912 Q  PolyMatrix
150-8813K 7912 10 BP-10 Smart Pad
150-9420K 7912 20 BP-20 Smart Pad

16" Dynalite calipers:
Code: Select all
 AXLE SET  P/N PAD TYPE/COMPOUND
15A-5734K 7112 A  PolyMatrix
15B-3991K 7112 B  PolyMatrix
15C-4415K 7112 C  PolyMatrix
15E-6096K 7112 E  PolyMatrix
15H-8291K 7112 H  PolyMatrix
15Q-6824K 7112 Q  PolyMatrix
150-8850K 7112 10 BP-10 Smart Pad
150-9413K 7112 20 BP-20 Smart Pad
150-9863K 7112 30 BP-30 Smart Pad
150-8450K 7112 SM For Titanium Rotor
DP2001         EBC Green Stuff
DP2002         EBC Red   Stuff

=================================================
Note the superior stopping ability of the 'E' compound over the other 3 tested in some street rod magazine:

Test 1 with pad number 15Q 6824-7112Q:
60 to 0 mph @ 151.42 ft and 30 to 0 mph @ 35.32 ft
Driver comment: good feel; same pedal pressure throughout each test.
Description of pad compound:
PolyMatrix Q - lowest noise and dust properties. Improved friction over OE replacement pad compounds with smooth engagement, increased fade resistance with quick recovery time.
Applications:
Disc brake conversions on street rods and other performance street vehicles where low noise and dust are important.

Test 2 with pad number 15E 6096-7112E:
60 to 0 mph @ 133.41 ft and 30 to 0 mph @ 30.97 ft
Driver comment: As pads heated in subsequent tests, the pedal became more sensitive.
Applications: PolyMatrix E pad
Light to medium duty road racing and track day events. Performance street category competition.

Test 3 with pad number 15T 5911-8405:
60 to 0 mph @ 153.81 ft and 30 to 0 mph @ 34.57 ft
Driver comment: soft pedal, needed more pedal pressure--more consistent throughout stops compared to others.
Description of pad compound:
The PolyMatrix T pad compound has the following characteristics:
This pad is known as the "cold stopper" pad with higher friction levels over a wise temperature range. Improved stopping power while retaining low noise and dust properties. The T is standard equipment on many of Wilwood's brake conversion packages. Economically priced and long wear and low rotor abrasion.
Applications:
Considered a high-performance street pad. Excellent break-in pad for bedding new rotors.

Test 4 with pad number 15O 8850-89354-MR:
60 to 0 mph @ 144.37 ft and 30 to 0 mph @ 33.81 ft
Driver comment: Best pedal feel of any test and very predictable stopping.
Description of pad compound:
The BP-10 (Smart Pad), compound has the following characteristics:
Medium friction compound with low noise and dust properties of a street performance compound.
Applications:
High-performance street/strip, drag race, and track day categories using vented iron rotors. Disc brake conversions on street rods and musclecars.

PS - If anyone knows the part# of EBC pads for the 15" Wilwood kit PM it to me & I'll add it to this post.
Strive for perfection in everything. (given time)
Take the best that exists & make it better. (given inclination)
If it doesn't exist, create it. (God did)
Ignore what I say. (good advice)
