My hood is almost worn through at the top rear (above the right shoulder (it's worn on the other side as well)

I want to patch it on the inside, I tried evostick bit it peals off (I assume it's the water proofing.
Anyone had any luck with adhesives\ glues for patcing up hoods?

I just got an old seatbelt offcut from a scrapyard, cut it to length, and used a general purpose adhesive to stick it to the inside between two of the cross-pieces.

I used SETFAST Fabric Glue (which is solvent free) to fix a piece of dark material on the inside of my hood at the wear points (no holes). Worked well but I haven't been out in much rain...

Good idea, any idea which general purpose glue you used.

I used some kevlar material and some special glue
I use the stuff to repair my dry suit so its pretty good.....
I'll dig the tin out in the next couple of days and let you know its serial number...IIRC it was made by evostik but its the stuckiest most fexible glue Ive ever used

I do this on a regular basis and use UHU impact adhesive, well recommended!

As for the patch itself, any material that's black, strong construction but quite thin works well. I use to use leather patches but they are a bit thick

It's a good preventitive measure to do this early on

Bostic 2402 is a 2-part flexible waterproof glue which i use for my drysuit repairs, some of which have now spent hundreds of hours under water without leaking, so it must be pretty good sticky stuff!

(I'm sure Gareths Evostik product must be fairly similar) - It's quite easy to obtain, I got mine from a local hardware store.....they kept it in stock.

it could well be bostic.....I cant remember as it was ages ago I did a load of repairs on about 10 drysuits and theyre all still working with no leaks

I used fabric adhesive from Wilkinsons - it sticks like **** to a blanket.

For the patches, I cut the palms out of cheap 'riggers gloves' to create a patch of suede.

I have got some trilaminate material that I'll cut to patches and bring with me to Donington for thems who want em........

dont forget to read this to avoid ripping your hood.....its what trim tech gave me when Id had mine fitted

Little late in this discussion, but. . .
3M makes a fantastic adhesive called "Fast Tack Trim Adhesive." Part No. 051135-08031. Very good stuff. I went to the local fabric store and got canvas to patch. How original of me!

Hi, Don't suppose you have a small piece left over for me do you :wink:

Mine has been patched on the LHS at some point (after a rip), but the driver's side isn't and I'd like to do it as a precaution.

I got a piece of canvas from a textile shop (free sample!!!) and super-glued 2 cut circles together before using UHU glue to stick it on. Works a treat.

Tips for anyone doing this: Don't superglue 2 pieces together as I did - the superglue goes hard and leaves a bump in the fabric when the hood is folded, and one thickness of heavy canvas is sufficient.
