No Remote Central Locking. Clifford Eagle Alarm

Postby RayD » Wed 28.02.2007, 18:10

Clifford Eagle Alarm. Grey and Blue 5 button Remote

Under normal circumstances pressing the remote control will cause the alarm to set, the dash mounted alarm light to flash, two beeps to sound, all side lights to flash on twice, and the door locks to lock.

At the present time pressing the button on either of two remotes, the alarm sets, and the dash mounted alarm light flashes. There are none of the other functions.

When you lock the driver’s door with the key, the driver’s door locks (mechanically?) and the passenger door locks remotely. But if you then unlock the passenger door with the key, the drivers door remains locked.

When you lock the passenger door with the key, the passenger door locks but the drivers door doesn’t.

Applying the setting whereby the doors lock when the ignition is turned on the doors don’t lock.

The connection between the alarm, the central locking, the side lights and the sounder seems to have been lost.

Is it likely that a fault on the driver’s door actuator/micro switch/wiring would cause the sidelights, the passenger door lock and the sounder not to operate?

Are there any fuses involved?

Which individual part is most likely to be faulty.

Thank you in advance.

The alarm has a switch to turn it off. Mine came loose and the wires came out. Showed similar actions to yours. Check that everything is connected. Don't know about a fuse.

Removed the drivers door panel today - while fiddling with the wires I disconnected the plug shown in the picture, re-connected it, tried the central locking using the key fob, and it worked. It would seem to have been a bad connection.

It was noticeable when the contact broke, and reconnected again, it caused the opposite door lock to operate which could have some bearing on the “locks cycling on their own” mentioned by both Mick and Dave on

Another bit of information that might be useful to someone having a similar problem…. While carrying out the work on the door wiring I removed the fuse for the interior light, which also accounts for the boot (trunk) light. Having restored the central locking function on the key fob the only difference was, that now the alarm sounded 4 chirps, and 4 flashes of the sidelights during arming, rather than the usual 2.

It turns out it was due to “ a trigger malfunction (automatically bypassed)” according to the instruction book. Replacing the light fuse brought it back to normal.

It would seem that if the bulb fails in the boot using this alarm, you would be made aware of it when locking the doors.

If anyone would benefit from a copy of the instructions let me know.
