Le Mans 2007

Hi Nige,

I won't change our sailing times but this is what i'm proposing to do. On getting to france we will travel down to our B&B at Duclair. On tuesday we will set off for Le Mans. Now at this stage it would be great to meet up with you on route and then to travel down to Le Mans together. How does this proposal suit you??

After the race we will, as advised leave the site for duclair on sunday and then back to UK on monday.

To be honest i didn't realise that there was so much going on before the race!!

The stuff I'm doing for the Donington stand along with the new job has slowed me up on this. As soon as Donington is over I'll contact all who are going to Le Mans with ticket allocation details and the amounts owing. I'll carry it until then.

bribing Min with a Paris trip. Looking at Rosyth-Zeebrugge ferry arrival Sunday 10th, 3 nights in Paris then down to LM on wed avro or early Thurs.

No Sun ferry so Mon night Zeebrugge, therefore a Sun night stop near Calais or maybe Brugge. You got anything booked for the Sunday yet ?

oops, Blue Nord will be f'ing hot and exposed, Blue South is grassy with trees, Lotus/Cat 7 owners club always go there.

For Blue Nord reinforced tent pegs will be required, ground will be concrete, and a couple of gazebos will be very handy.

And if the tram station at Tetre Rouge is finished its still miles away.

We don't have any choice, the ticket allocation we have been given is in Bleu Nord, it was enough trouble getting all the camping tickets in the same site. As far as location goes Bleu Nord is fine, it's no further from the start/finish area than Karting Nord. I hope that we will get there early enough to try and grab some shade if any is available. Gazebos are a good idea.

I've got a gazebo but its one of those concertina types which is great for putting up in a hurry but doesn't pack down very small. I'll do a trial run nearer the date to see if i can get it all in but i think its going to be tight.

if we get their tuesday afternoon surely we'll be in time to get a prime pitch. Sounds like a kango might be in order for the tent pegs though

Hopefully Tuesday will be early enough for a prime pitch, but we've not been on this site before. I've had a week of sorting out the aftermath of Donington (the jobs not done until the paperwork etc) but I intend to do the calculation of who owes me what re Le Mans tickets this weekend and e mail it out to people. I think I have most e mail addresses (definitely Scott and Chris) but if not then please e mail me (in my profile) or PM me with yours (Jim, not sure I have your email).

I think Blue Nord starts the week quieter so tuesday should be fine for a big patch, though all sights get full earlier every year.

Rosyth-Zeebrugge ferry is + £500 so thats not going to happen.

Who are the best/cheapest Dover-Calais operators ?

P&O i have always found to be the best. I payed £92 which includes 2 club lounge passes.

Just run my departure arrival times through SF and came up with £85 but this does not inc the club lounge which is £20.

One thing i will say for P&O is that they do take care of exotic sprts cars and that incs our elans. This means that they are sympathetic to where they put you. I went to le hauvre with LD line(french run) and frankly when i parked up i could hardly get out of the car (seriously).

Scott, I booked Dover Calais with P&O for £42 return, but that was at the beginning of the year when they had an offer on. P&O are currently advertising Dover CAlai from £30 each way.
