I actually saw something looking like this on the freeway the other day.

New timing belt, alternator belt, idle pulley, tension pulley, waterpump, etc.
Notice how Marie marked the spots on the timing belt

Brand new exhaust manifold with the new turbo adapter fitted. After cleaned up all factory coated wax. Not that the old one cracked, this is just to reduce down time preparing for new turbo installation.
LGM's handy work perfectly flushed the bolt on the adapter plate. Yes, a closed-up picture, and it's perfect.

Another shot showing how smooth it is inside.
Copper gasket spray went in between for a tight seal. A lot of grinding on the exhaust manifold to make it perfectly aligned with the hole on the adapter plate. Also it's not easy to drill a hole there to flush the bolt head on the adapter. Took LGM a while with her power tools.
End result is an awesome piece of machining.
So smooth baby ~

Looking good Eckers!
Which model Turbo are you going for? Also, what's the cost / availability of the stock manifold? Are you going to have the manifold ceramic-coated to keep the heat inside, and out of the engine bay?

I went for GT2560R as mentioned in
Missy Turbo Thread.
The exhaust manifold is on back order from Isuzu (~$230), 1 month waiting or so. I can't wait so I got mine from Dave Bean @ $300.

Not too far from him so it arrived the next day.
I don't know yet but ceramic-coated is a very good idea. Thank you

The camera snapped me from behind at 15mph making right turn following the car in front, light switched, late night w/ no traffic at all
The other time got pulled over at "real average speed".

Front plate was just icing on the cake

I know of a ceramic coater near the See's candy factory in San Mateo. We can go later next week if you want.
Boyz you should see the Turbo. It does NOT look stock anymore. It's all polished and machined smooth. Sexy to say the least.

A LGM special to say the least. It also has an uprated waste gate actuator. It's cracking preasure is 12PSI. Wooo Haaaa!!! I can hear it now.

Did you consider the GT2854R ?
This is the one I'm leaning towards, it seems to be more efficient, likely to have better response but still able to max-out the stock ECU's control-ability?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical of your choice, just hoping to learn more to help me decide which to go for

Ekapol, another excellent choice!
I too was thinking what a wonderful chance to get the exhaust manifold ported a bit if needed and to send it for Jet-Hot !!!
Can't wait to see the pictures of the install. I may have to bring my extra keys by and steal her back

I should have removed my old VIN plates from the red-car for you, eh Doug?

Since there are so many turbo's which are compatible with Rafael's adapter-plate, what's the best way to choose one? Below are just some which can be used.
GT2560R
Max 320hp
Very Good response turbo for 4 Cyl applications.
Bolt-on Inlet/Outlet.
$795.90
GT2860RS
Max 350hp
This turbo is great for small displacement engines and has the ultimate spool up time compared to other units.
Turbo-hose Inlet/Outlet.
$1,038.90
GT2871R
Max 400hp
Like the GT2860RS on the outside but has a bigger compressor wheel inside!
Spool up time equals the GT2860RS.
Turbo-hose Inlet/Outlet.
$1,090.90
GT2871R (bolt-on)
Max 400hp +
Although a bolt-in replacement for the GT2560R, has the bigger compressor wheel of the GT2871R.
Bolt-on Inlet/Outlet.
$1,116.90

Ekapol's new turbo pics.
We went for the GT2560R because of its response and just the fact that it has a much higher potential for power before running out of steam. It also has better configurability than the GT2854R though this turbo will spool slightly faster given our displacement. The GT2560R will also have to work less to give more power in turn producing less heat under the hood. Don't get me wrong, both are great choices. I just like to give myself some room for expandability should I ge tthe urge to do so.

From the website:
This Garrett GT2854R turbocharger can make anywhere from 170 - 270 horsepower, and is best suited for 1.6L - 2.8L engines.
Sounds like an excellent choice too. Like LGM said, we consider spooling time response and possible upgrade itch. She took me out for a ride the other day. It's --insane-- !!
I'm so used to looking at the new turbo brand new in the box. LGM grinded off the hose mounting bracket (no need in our cases) for a cleaner look and really transform it to almost mirror surface look.
Yeah baby!~
