I have just bought a 1990 SE which has no door keyholes. It looks great, but is this a factory finish or after-market modification?

I have no remote fob either, so there is no way to lock the car from the outside until I get a remote alarm fitted!

Did the person you bought it off not have to lock/unlock it?

Why don't you get in touch with the seller and try and track down the keyfob? - Apologies if this is the blindingly obvious

The seller said he never had a door fob, and considered it to be pointless locking a soft-top!

I will see about having an alarm fitted. That should solve the problem.

and how the hell it wasn`t stolen :shock:

as without alarm and imboliser the M100 is easy to steal.
I bet the owner never declared that to the insurance company :roll:

I have keys for ignition & boot (only 1 of each though) but have not got arund to looking at the glovebox yet. It's on my list of things to do though. A locksmith friend of mine has been unable to get a blank for my boot key, but thanks to this forum, I have 2 on the way!

Insurers wouldn`t look kindly at at it im afraid :-(

Not many people know but most policies also exclude theft if the roof is left down !!!

Thatcham approved m/wave alarm booked in for fitting in 8 days time.

Didn't know about the 'hood down' clause. Thanks for that.

No glove box key though.

Alarm now fitted, so it locks!

The window switches fell apart when taking them out from the console for alarm fitting, so I cannot raise my driver's window anymore. I have sourced a couple of GM replacements (thanks to another thread on this site) but for now, Duck tape should hold the switch together!
