SJ front bumper

Hi All,

I removed the front bumper the other day (intentionally I might add ) and am looking to replace it with a new one as the offside mounts are badly torn and have been poorly repaired in the past.

I'll probably give SJ a call in the New Year but wondered in the meantime if anyone has any experience of their body panels? I gather they've got the original moulds so I guess their bumper would be as good as an original?

Rob, i'm sure somebody told me there are a few minor differences, but not enough to worry about. Think one was, there arn't the holes underneath to bolt it to the frame, ie the've got to be made, so might be worth doing a trial fit before spraying ?.

Thanks Paul, if it's just holes etc. then that's okay. I guessed there might be a certain amount of fettling involved even with an original. I've got the old one as a template and a trial fitting is definitely a good idea, it should be easy as I've got the top shell off too. As long as the shape/size is good, I really want to get the panel gaps right as they've been bugging me for years.

I'm looking for a replacement front bumper too, stateside but i'd be willing to ship it over from blighty if necessary.

how hard is it to remove the bumper, doesn't look tricky but these things never do, i need to get into my intercooler so i figured i'd take the front off since its not aligned correctly anyway, seems like an easier way to do it..
