iv'e had a whistling noise around the top of the window, iv'e just found the tension wire that runs along the top edge of the roof front to back has come away from its fixed point at the front, has anyone a clue as to how its fixed, i have the service manuals to hand but cannot find any ref to the wires, help appreciated,

The tension wires are rivited to the outer edge of the header rail at the font end, but I don't think you can see the rivit with the roof fabric in place...
The header rail is aboit 1/2" wider on both sides on a late style hood. If you're frame is an early style that's been coverted to take a late style hood, it'll have some little aluminium extensions rivited to both ends of the header rail. The tension wires are then rivited to these extensions, and the whole lot gets covered in glue when the fabric is fitted...

thanks for pointing me in the right direction, my car is a 91 se, i'm working blind here, so is it a big job to get to the rivits ? , do i have to dig into a load of glue to find them , i dont want to start messing with it without the right tools to finish the job thanks .

it's not going to be easy to get to the rivits with the hood cloth in place...
they're certainly buried in glue (had a look at mine earlier), so you will have to peel back the front corner of the hood to try and gain access...
