The finish is strait from the mould, the resin is injected into a near vaccum; so there should be no air bubles as there is very little air in the mould.
The resin doesn't notceably shrink and it's UV stable so it doesn't need to be coated after fabricating: although I will offer a clear coat as an option for a greater visual depth of finish and better scratch resistance.

I have some prices, need to work out the mould and tooling costs and how to place orders ie up front payments and minimum production runs to keep the cost down for buyers (the more CF we buy the cheaper it is by far).

The mould is being modified to allow for fixing points, improved water drainage, improved vaccum seal and an option to have the lighs sunk nicely or protrude at the top (F355 style) to preserve the existing back (transom) panel of peoples cars.

I don't have the inner harness yet Jin su, so the final weight is in question, the light pods are also being modified as this is a prototype it is being perfected.
The existing mould is being remade to improve the construction and versatility of the light pods. They were stuck on, now they will be integrated as I had originally wanted.

Don't worry you are 1st in the queue for the carbon panel and full price will be quoted as soon as my costs are clear.

Well I see what your saying, but I was referring to those bubbled red rear lights in your rear panel. (Though I do like that KIA design but not sure about that larger amber signal)

One other thing with LEDs can't you replace the stock signaling relay with one that has slower flash rate? I know with motorcycles you can replace that stock relay and not use those resistors.

You can definitely get a flasher module that supports LED lights and simply snaps in as a direct replacement for the stock flasher module. I've replaced all my rear lights with LED bulbs and they work just fine without resistors.

The resistors are for AM radio interference, if you don't want AM radio then you don't need the resistors. The frequency can also cause problems with ABS but as we don't have ABS there is no point worrying about it.

The Kia lights come as a unit much like the original M100/Renault lights. I'm pretty much making this panel for the existing round lights available for the current Elise/Exige and latest Esprit 'facelift'.
I can custom build a panel but it will be a lot more expensive as it will be a short run.

I read in Elise forums that people upgrading their incandescant rear lights to LED have had radio interference problems. I have to say that in my case, I've not experienced this at all. Granted, I'm using LED "Bulbs" which are aftermarket LED clusters designed to replace the existing bulbs we use in the Elan and their may be some kind of difference there.

The biggect reason to install resistors is to trick the flasher module into thinking that a bulb is NOT burnt out. The LED have a much lighter load and the flasher module interprets this as a burnt out bulb causing the rapid flashing turn signal syndrom designed to tell the driver that a bulb has burnt out. The flasher module I installed is designed for LED and incandescant and I've had no issues with rapid flashing or radio interference.

Phil, might be worth trying out as an alternative to installing resistors. Probably cheaper to replace the flasher module than wire up a bunch of resistors and possibly safer as well as those things can get very hot. More in these links:

The resistor harness is a Lotus part designed and supplied for retrofitting the exact Lotus LED units I am using, to the older Elise. No construction required.

I fitted them to test to see if the same problem exists for the M100, as it does for the Elise, before putting the whole package together for other people.

Everything is under control, no need for anyone to worry about this product as it is a tried and tested piece of Lotus kit.

If you (anyone) needs this product for the panel; I will tell you and I will tell you why so you can make an informed decision.

Phil, sorry if it sounded like I was implying you actually needed help or advice....Especially from me Its quite obvious from your pics that you've got everything firmly under control and the panel looks fabulous. Was only offering up some personal experiences even though they were on a completely unrelated project.

Can't wait to see more pics of the final creation!

No mate all is good, I just didn't want anyone getting concened with resistors oveheating or a badly researched product going out.
I felt the need to show that there will be no problems with the wiring (as long as I can get the plugs)

I thought I should let you know what stage I was at, as I havn't really discussed this, just quietly reaserched and working away at it.

My problem at the moment is sourcing the AMP plugs, when I have I'll take a list of names and start making the parts.
