In the documentation section, it says the first owner was Lotus; was it a demo model for Europe? BTW where did you get date of first registration being 1/1/94 Clemo? It checks out with the RAC as a
1994 for first registration.
Neil (Aftersales) did say that there were slightly more than 800 S2's produced. I'll see if he knows any more details.

PS Gazza. Where are you?

Clemo/Geoff
Just read this and a bit stumped. If I remember someone did say that there were 2 pre-production/test cars.
#38 Medina Green L822 SVF, registered 3/6/94 was a press car, used in Autocar mag I think.
Hopefully this car might help us answer some question. Good spot Clemo.

just spoken to the owner...
nice chap..
it has been owned by lotus until july 96 as a test car. (shopping run as well) with all journeys logged.
i guess then the elise came out so they passed it on..
it has millbrook paperwork
gaydon banking evaluation paperwork
and was used for development for pipework re routing with clf..
also aircon evaluations.
made him an offer..
he declined at this stage !!

I got some feedback from Lotus:
Thank you for your recent email, Neil has just passed it on to me as I look
after the Archives, which includes all of the build books. You are correct
in saying that there were a little over 800 S2 Elans built and the Elan in
question is certainly an early version. Sadly as this car looks to have been
in Lotus ownership, in this case it appears we no longer have a build book
for this car so I am unable to supply any further information on it. I have
noticed over the few years of doing this job that especially with M100's if
the cars have been employees cars or for factory use then the build books
may have not made it into the Archives.
The first S2 build book we have is 6002 which was a LHD Belgian car and was
signed off the production line on 15.06.94.
Apologies that I am unable to be of any further help with this car.
Yours sincerely

There is an
Elise register which has been running since July 2005 and has 126 entries. Gazza has pulled together 217 out of ~800 S2's into the S2 register. It puts it in perspective when you consider how many Elises there are.
Round of applause for Gary.

The car has changed to a nice guy in the near from cologne. There are some more modification made: different muffler, popoff, coldair-intake, new rims in 17''- The car is in a very good condition.
