Think i have the 9929 chip

Postby Russc » Sat 23.06.2007, 15:34

Looking to upgrade using an everest chip and and as i have the dreaded number one in my VIN I have pulled the ECU apart to see if i`ve got.

Couldn`t see any note on the ECU casing or any note in my service book.

A couple of piccies.

As i can see AUFH i`m assuming i have 9929 chip

Am i right or wrong??

Russ,

First thing - get that MEMCAL back in the ECU. Because of it's age, I doubt you have damaged it but you should not leave integrated circuits lying around. There is the potential for damage by static electricity, from e.g. rubbing on synthetic materials in carpets etc. You should ideally have an earthed conductive wrist strap on when handling them, but failing that hold onto something earthed.

I'm unsure what the markings on the PROM signify, but the easiest way of finding out the PROM ID is to run ElanScan. I was actually going to PM you for an address this weekend so I could send you an interface!

Looking at your first picture, on the big white sticker is a number 16149929

Not sure of the relevance of the 1614, but maybe the 9929 is a bit of a clue?

Perhaps i should be a detective

So why aren't you?

All the indications are it's a 9929 as AUFH is another strong indicator. It's on the PROM as well as the box and there are no indications that it's been changed to 9930 so 99.9% sure it's 9929.
