Dear Jim:

I guess there is yet another unique hose to the Fed set-up. Are you talking about the short 90 degree hose that goes from the metal tube to the bottom of the radiator on the left side/driver's side? If so, then I goofed. I'll track one down and get it over to James for Samco to make and include in future Federal kits.

It looks like a fairly simple 90 degree hose. I'll also try to find a suitable Samco hose already in production and available here stateside as a stop-gap measure for us early adopters.

Mea Culpa.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Algirdas,

Many thanks for all the effort. The short 90 bend is not complicated but does have a slight jink in it and is very short eliminating any coercion of an all most right tube in to place. So an off the shelf tube may not be the answer but worth looking into. With the sunshine, I am very reluctant to part with my tube which is working fine for now. I can offer a loan of the tube from June 11th to July 13th while I am out of the country.

Let me know if you want it. It would make me feel less like a leach on all of the projects I have been benefiting from.

Cheers,
Jim

Dear Jim:

This is my screw up. When I do my switch over (shortly after the Memorial Day weekend), I will put some sort of elbow on it and send my original to James at Amber for Samco to reproduce.

Dear Algirdas,
not to rush, wondering how we are doing on the missing 90 elbow hose in the Samco kit for our fed cars? Appreciate all the effort you have put into this endeavor.

Dear Ed:

I have a 90 degree hose from (of all things) an Europa TC that I will butcher up for my car while the original hose goes off to James and Samco never to return. I hope to do the hose conversion next week (assuming Fastenal comes through on the Ideal hose clamps that I need).

I have e-mailed James about this "Second Additional Hose" but have not to-date received a response from him. I'll keep on it.

Sincerely,

Dear Ed:

Did you get a set of hoses from James? He was lamenting that, after the initial flurry of activity, many who said they wanted a set have yet to fork over the cash.

Yes, I got my set, sans the infamous missing hose, and have paid James in full. I assumed that those who had committed had recieved sets also by now and had made payment arangements with him. I found him to be very responsive and quick ship once the sets were completed. Hopefully he is not holding the bag on some of these, which would not be good for our reputation.

Dear Jack:

Nope. Not too late. Just contact James at Amber Performance and order up a set. Just keep in mind that there will be ONE MORE HOSE as soon as I can get my act together.

Algirdas,

"one more hose" what another one??? I've got the original boxed set, plus the two Fed extras from James (all paid for and superb support from Amber) but now you mention another hose??? At this rate I'll never fit them as I want to do it all in one go

So where does this next one go?

Cheers,
Ian

Dear Ian:

The one I am talking about is the one that goes between the bottom radiator outlet and the ninety degree metal bend that then goes into the bottom radiator hose. See this page and the postings from Dave M and you will see what I am talking about.

http://www.lotuselancentral.com/forum/v ... &start=280

I just plain overlooked it. All I can say is "I'm sorry." If I can get my clamps by this weekend, I plan on doing my hoses this weekend. If there are any more surprises, I should uncover them then. Again, my sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.

As a stop gap measure, you may want to consider replacing all of the hoses except that 90 degree bottom hose, or replace it with a garden variety radiator hose in case the bottom one has deteriorated. When the Samco one is ready, drain the coolant into a clean pan, swap out the hoses and dump the coolant back in.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Dear Matt:

Yeah. My screw-up. No sense calling James just yet. I hope to get back on my car this weekend. The loss of my mother has dulled my interest in pretty much everything. I need to get with it since there are people counting on me.

Please bear with me on this.

[soapbox] Oi :poke: don't go worying about other people counting on you :smt011

We all know that everything you are doing/have done is in your own time as part of a hobby.

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that we understand that some things are more important than cars, now is the time for sorting yourself out, family comes before hobbies, and if anyone doesn't understand that, then perhaps they'd be better off on a different forum.[/soapbox]

On a personal note, I can empathise with you, having been in a similar position last year. Even when it's not unexpected, it still takes a lot of getting over.

If there is anything I can do to help, in any way, then just let me know.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Take care.

I agree. Take some time for yourself. My father once said," You don't feel like an adult 'til your parents pass. After then, mortality really sinks in." You need time to gather thoughts and reflect. I know that working gives purpose (part of the reason I work so much.... not remembering friends I"ve lost) but one day it will hit you if your not prepared. Have some time and a big hugg. Afer all hugg's are sometimes the best medicine. :smt052

So sorry. Actually, you've worked quite enough on this. I or probably someone else can provide that hose to James if you think he'll listen to someone beside yourself.

I lost my older brother when I was 27; totally unexpected. I refused to even go through his stuff & to this day it's still all in my dad's storage-room. When my dad finally passes I'll be forced to go through it. But certain things, emotionally, we choose to avoid regardless of how many years have passed.

Best wishes & perhaps the most valuable thing I can say is that we all go through this, not identically, but pretty close.

Dear Dave, Marie and Matt:

Thank you for the encouraging words and uplifting sentiments. Bottom line is that I have made this mess and I need to clean it up. I have two hoses (one is a Lotus Europa hose and the other is a garden variety Samco 90 degree elbow) that I will splice into my car's system this weekend and send my original hose off to James. You forfeit the original hose that is used for the mould; Samco keeps that and you do not get it back. Therefore, I cannot ask you to give up your hose because of my mistake. And Dave Bean can't even find that 90 elbow either in their books or on their shelves.

I need to clean this up. Plus, doing some car stuff does tend to take my mind off into a different direction.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Algirdas
