how to take the door skin off so i can change the speakers?

Can anyone advise how to remove the plastic door panels from the doors, so that I can change my door mounted speakers.

The drivers side window has started to play up too, so I now need to take a look at that too.

I have removed the screws holdoing the door panel inplace but have not been able to remove the panel which appeared to be glued in place.

Any help would be appreciated.

It shouldn’t be glued in place, it just needs all the screws and the plastic screw plugs removing – I found one extra to the ones shown in the manual, in the middle of the panel.

The door carpet is glued - you will need to remove that to get at the screws, but it should gently peel away

Myles go to www.charliex.net/door.htm. a smashing write up you cant go amiss with it I have put in new front speakers they don't have so much base as the old paper ones but are much clearer top end and I use the rears for the base I want

The original glue may still be OK, but if not you need the one in a spray can that carpet fitters use. Just put it on the carpet otherwise it won't come off so easy next time. The one I used is M-Phatic Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive.

Dear Myles:

I just had my door apart and put the door carpets back on with very benign rubber cement (Elmer's brand rubber cement that you just pour onto the carpet, spread it around with the enclosed brush and press it into place). Holds from the first installation and comes off very easily when you have to get back into the door to fix windows etc. (trust me, you will be seeing your door's innards again and again and again).
