Sunday 23rd Sept '07 - Hethel Open Day

Postby Sy V » Thu 05.07.2007, 13:10

We've just been contacted by Hethel to inform us of a planned open day at HQ, to celebrate 40 years of production.

From what I can gather it's £30 admission (children under 15 years old are free) which entitles you to everything on offer (except refreshments).

Details are sketchy at the moment and I'm awaiting further details, but from what I can gather there are factory tours, F1 cars, areas for the various Clubs (including LEC) to display, old products (cars) and new products are also on display.

Having spoken to Bibs, I know that the invitation has been extended to LEF as well.

I'll fill you in with more info as and when I get it, but I've been asked to gauge interest with a view to feeding probable numbers back to them early next month (August).

These trawls are never any good without a ticker so:

As I find snippets:

"There will be a loads of things to do and see including technical forums, factory tours, engineering displays, and lots more. The day has been planned for some time and it promises to be one to remember and definitely not to be missed.

Classic Team Lotus will have several of their delectable F1 cars on track and Lotus Sport will also be demonstrating the GT3 and the Exige 265E. The 2-Eleven will also be along with, we're told, some 'surprises'."

they're obviously trying to avoid the traffic chaos that ensued at the 25th celebs where some people didn't even get in.
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

Sy,

Quick question,

Have we got a club stand at the 40th party?

Just read the LEF are allowed a club stand + LEF Marquee + 3 cars..

TTFN
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The N/A-Team.

Guys,

Just to clear up a thing or 2. This is not an open day, it's a club enthusiasts day. Invites have gone to Piston heads, LEF, LEW, LEC, Excel club, Elite and Eclat owners club etc etc....seloc (hopefully they'll forget to turn up!). No members of the public.

Due to the roads into the factory and security required to stop camera's etc it is not feasible to park in there. Also when we arrived for last years events it took an hour to get 100 cars in through the gate, imagine that times 10!!

There will be secure parking at the showground and dedicated buses to the factory and back.

Each club can sign up for a stand and a 3 car display (thats what we've done).

There will be loads to do from factory tours to Historical racing cars. Chances to shop at the Lotus shop and look around Motor Sport etc etc.

This will be a top day and we are making a weekend of it by (hopefully) booking a local hotel and partying the night before.

This is no normal event. This is one not to be missed guys and gals.

By the way, you should have recieved an official invite from Caroline at Lotus. looks like this:
