I have no experience of fitting it, but I believe this is a fit-it-once part, so if your hood is not in a good way I'd suggest replacing it now, or you may find yourself needing a new header rail seal.

The hood itself is in good nick its the seals that make it look rough.

Out of interest how much did you pay if you dont mind me asking and from where?
It's one of those jobs I may do at some point.

The header seal sits in a channel and i used sikaflex, but i heard someone using double sided tape (the foam type) so it would be easyer to remove in the future withouyt damaging it

Great idea with the double sided tape might give that ago...
The seal isnt cheap and cost a staggering £120, but I feel it will be worth it in the end as mine at the moment is just a mess with foam hanging out.

Hi all,
Just curious on this hood seal problem.
As the hood seals wearing/leaking is a known issue with the Elan, hasn't Lotus ever put their hands up and done a recall or such like ??
Or
Do they offer a refurb service and how much ??
