ssss meet in november

Postby stevieshag » Sun 15.07.2007, 17:13

Ok Guys & Gals.

as discused at ssss, date for get together in november :!:
i have picked a date & location too see what the feedback is :!:

30th nov 1st dec
m4 reading travelodge

this is only a idea to get ball roling to see

A if date is available
B if the general location is acceptable

I have looked on travelodge web site & they can do rooms for as little as £15 per room per night, now this is a supersaver price you get NO REFUND if cancelled.

If we go for somewhere in a town centre the supersaver prices are generally £26 per room per night.

I appreciate its well in advance of the proposed date but it gives people time to check diaries & for us to get a good rate.

i'll go with the flow on this one, would this involve a spin or just a scoff?

There are generally a limited number of cheap rooms available, so like Donington this year, it would pay to get in early and not everyone will be guaranteed to get the cheap rate.

Up for discusion Chris, if we arranged in a town centre we could do some other activity like bowling etc.

My only thought on a drive is its going to be november & how many of us will want to bring elans out.

It will prob be a snotter event.

just my thought..

i agree Geoff, but the sooner we get it sorted the more of us can get the supersaver rate, as the longer we leave it the less will be available.

Sounds good to me guys. I'll pencil it in my diary. :-D

The sooner we can book it up though the better.

I'll probably be sans Elan aswell, so would be up for an alternative activity for one of the nights. Bowling sounds good.

Pending interest, we could have a BOLLECKS v Southern Softies team competition!

Well it sounds like the date is getting the :smt023

i think if we are going to go bowling. then we need to opt for a city centre venue.

As travelodge on M4 wont have these facilities close enough.

I am presuming that the area is getting the :smt023 the distance is favourable for everyone

ok done some homework

travelodge jnct 12 m4 https://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hot ... tel_id=238

is 8 miles awayfrom reading superbowl

http://www.readingbowl.com/pages/find_us.htm

which if we wanna go bowling will be closest cheap accommodation we need to decide east or west bound travelodge.

not sure how far you have to go to be able to swap direction.

From the map it looks like one junction and whatever one we stay in you`ll have to go to the next junction and turn around to go home anyway!

Which one will be easier to get into Reading from?? looks like eastbound but i might be wrong

Stevie, looks like you are the organiser :) choose one and we can then get it booked :) :)

Although just to make matters more confusing reading central is only 26 quid a night.

Also i assume you mean for the night of the 1st December , ie the sat night??

Sounds good to me.

I wouldn't leave my Elan in the bowl car park, though - to be honest I wouldn't leave my Elan in any Reading car park - but it seems everyone is leaning towards using their snotters in any case.

There's some cracking pubs and bars in Reading - my son lives there so he can give us the real low down!

Reading is very near where we live, so we might well cycle, walk or hop on the train to get there !!

So, it gets our vote.

30th November is a Friday - is that what you had in mind, Stevie?

If we do the bowl Friday night - shall I ponder on some options for Saturday around here? e.g. River walk and pub lunch?

Cheers

Ok just to confirm the sat nite is 1st December i think sat nite is best night as fri nite traffic will probably be busy & will save evryone rushing.

the travelodge does not list a bar in its list of facilities.
can anyone throw any light on this.

Stevie,

Do you mean the Travelodge in reading?

See here

http://tinyurl.com/25kmer

I don't think it's got a bar - I can get that checked easily enough - Jen works about 50 yards from it! - but I wouldn't recommend it in any case - it's not a very nice part of town.

Let me think for a while ...

Cheers

Personally, I think Newbury is a far nicer town - well it was 20 years ago!
